@pluralistic They seem to be using hCAPTCHA, which is the least bad option right now. Their main competitor reCAPTCHA is just Google using their omnipresent tracking to judge if your behavior "seems human enough", including checking your web history and keystrokes/mouse movements. Other than that, there is stuff like Akismet, which tries to AI-analyze the contents of what you're submitting; not much better. But it seems BA picked the highest difficulty hCAPTCHA, which seems excessive.
