@BeAware I mean. Fedding with bluesky is fine and all. But hosting bluesky... Isn't that a bit going back to capitalist overlords with proprietary protocols?
@laxla it's literally just a domain DNS swap. Just as if I was pointing it at anywhere else. I could always change it.🤷♂️not hosting anything on my "server". The idea is to have my domain.
It's looking as if you're embracing it. Bluesky is, dare I say it, too decentralized. To the point of giving the biggest instance the most power over the network, because admins can't control their own server. Why take this risk of your domain being nationalized/suspended by your provider, given you can't moderate the contents shown on it?
@laxla I don't think the actual domain would direct to BlueSky, just use it as a username for the protocol. Although, I feel I have less choice here what gets shown on my home page tbh. I think it's safer with BlueSky cause I know there isn't Loli/CSAM content there and if there would be, it says BlueSky so I have someone to point at. Here, it's technically all my "fault" cause it's manual moderation.
@BeAware hmmm. Idk, personally, I'd rather have the responsibility of preventing it myself over having someone to blame it on.
Then if just a username, I would use a subdomain. Cause if you do choose to have an instance there one day, your personal account will get confused with the instance's official account (e.g. what if you support a political thing but your instance is neutral to it).
