Okay I have a question for the French people reading this (like, from France).

To you, which of the below items is a "Beignet"? Just one? Both? Neither? Or would you not use this word to describe either thing?

A similar puffed pastry but with no hole.

The picture on the left is what "Beignet" means to the Quebecois French and on the right is what it means to Louisiana French, so I'm curious what use is idiomatic to metropolitan France. (Or I guess in general any French-speaking person not from North America.)
