Honestly I could see the hawks pushing Bibi to keep poking Iran so they can get the US dragged in by defense commitments.

US has laws on the book that should prevent the transfer of aid to countries doing what Isreal is doing. So its really not more complicated that what you said. Literally we just have to start following our own laws, but we won't because it's better for Israel if we disregard our own laws.
