Zane , in How old are most first time parents where you live?

Plenty of information on mums available in Australia, not so much for dads. The average age for first time mums in 2020 was 29.7, with the largest proportion (38%) between 30-34 years old. Anecdotally, I was a first time dad at 34, and my wife at 36.

Oh, man, that is a FANTASTIC question. I have no idea.

On average, as of 2016, 26.3 years for mothers, 31 for fathers.

Without a college degree - 23.8
With a college degree or higher - 30.3

Tendons don't show up on xrays.

Tore my achilles tendon, doc needed to do an MRI. Insurance company wouldn't authorize an MRI without an xray first even though literally everyone else knew they don't show up on xrays.

That's very crappy from that insurance company

Yup!

tacosanonymous ,

At least they didn’t make you do 8-12 weeks of physical therapy first…

Passerby6497 ,

Always nice to have to go through months of PT that you, your doctor and your therapist know aren't going to help, but you're forced to jump through hoops to get those fucking ghouls to authorize it.

That was the thing, I needed the MRI to START physical therapy so they knew exactly where the tear was and to what extent it was torn.

So I limped around in agony for a few extra weeks while the doctors explained how they were, in fact, "doctors" and the insurance company was not.

jeena , in Parents, what is the latest funny thing that your child did or said?
@jeena@jemmy.jeena.net avatar

15 month old likes rhythmical music, especially metal. Today we stopped and watched while road workers were fixing the road with big machines. Oneachine tried to shake off some dirt which was stuck and was banging against it in a 4 to the floor beat so my little one started headbanging to it.

The_Picard_Maneuver , in What breaks in a toddler's brain when they mess up a task a little bit so they purposefully mess up the rest of the task?
@The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world avatar

I think a partial mistake is just too much for them to process, so their toddler brain would rather finish whatever behavior they started, then figure out what to do next.

Toddler brain: "Oh, I'm spilling my drink... Better spill it all the way, because we need to clean it all off of the floor."
