Idea for future corporations trying to federate

I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority of us are here to avoid another corporate takeover of our preferred platforms. It would seem to me to be a tad irresponsible to allow Facebook into our space with open arms, allowing them to hoover up our data. I would love to keep using Lemmy.world, but will happily change...
Please, before posting, we've seen a lot of these post saying X instance is down right now, or "is X instance down?". The answer is probably, but it's probably because Lemmy v0.19 dropped and it includes some downtime, upwards of an hour for all the migrations to finish....
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get in contact with Kainoa or someone, because I really want to move instances and keep all of my account stuff....

I think it's a cool idea, and it could be the best way to help users on Reddit learn about Lemmy and migrate over....
I saw this post from !twoxchromosomes, and I wanted to share it here to get more discussion because it is important. I'm hoping that this post won't crowd out any voices, and while I've tried to keep this post productive and inclusive, please call out any concerns and use the post if you prefer :)...
I always used old.reddit.com with RES on my desktop. I've started using old.lemmy.world now, and I love the familiarity, but I realize how much I miss RES. I wish there was something for the old.lemmy.world that offered the same enhancements.
The fascinating thing about PeerTube right now is that the frontend experience actually seems to be best on other services. This is primarily because discoverability between instances is fairly poor due to both federation mechanics and due to the nature of bootstrapping social. Because Lemmy and Mastodon feature their own human...
So since the mass-exodus from Reddit we can see that the total amount of active users has gone down rather heavily: https://i.imgur.com/MeQok2F.png...
Presumably this is due to recent actions regarding adblockers over at Youtube....
I prefer good faith discussions please. I love the Fediverse and love what it can be long term. The problem is that parts of the culture want nothing to do with financial aspect. Many are opposed to ads, memberships, sponsorships etc...
I noticed that kbin has stalled in development recently and the ongoing problems with federation etc. made me use it even less for the past few weeks. I even spent more time on reddit than here....
I've been seeing a lot of users from alien.top commenting in various threads (mainly sports) lately. They only caught my attention because they are all flagged as bots and I typically manually block most bots (not all because there are some I like). For every one of them their entire post history consists of 1-2 comments or...
Man, I was all on board with this idea. Federated instances made so much sense to me. But it's tankies all the way down, and it's just not worth my time anymore. Hell, if the largest instance bans you seconds after you call out a tankie mod, where can you escape? Great idea, terrible execution. Everyone wants lemmy to grow,...
Hello folks...
In the recent Lemmy developer update, there's a reference to one Lemmy developer, SleeplessOne1917....

Is it just the momentum and word of mouth, or are there improved features as well?
Hey guys, with all of your help I would like to get a running list of apps for Fediverse platforms. In such a short time we’ve had so many apps develop and they’ve provided some incredible experiences....
I hope this is the right community to post in....
I recently made a new account on lemmy.blahaj.zone, because I’ve been harassed and doxxed on my old account and I wanted a fresh start with a more lighthearted online identity that I could be more open about my gender identity on. I’d heard blahaj zone was good for trans people, so I made my account there. And yeah,...
