So, LLMs aren't suitable for brainstorming new directions at the frontier. That seems like a pretty specific limitation that is only applicable in a very small percentage of cases. Like, LLM brainstorming won't be useful if you're trying to improve LLMs in a new way unless that new way is what most people are already doing. But it'd still be useful to help a COO brainstorm how to improve operations since there are tried and true methods of operations management.
Just tried it out for a bit, and while the responses were faster, the amount of incorrect information and hallucinations seemed to be the same. Its memory might be even worse.
Even with early GPT-4 it would also cite real citations that weren't actually about the topic. So you may be doing a lot of work double checking as opposed to just looking into an answer yourself from the start.
I work with plenty of people who don’t even do that. They just keep making stuff up like they do... But they’re confident in their incorrect answers, so people listen to them.
