I went to the Craft and Quilt Fair looking for inspiration, and I found myself drawn to works filled with women’s grief and rage. Amazing stuff. 😡❤️🧵🪡

A sign that says: My Husband's Clothes Karen Van Son Victoria My husband, Dick Terrens, was killed while cycling in 2020. These are his shirts, a few ties, bike caps and pants. He loved maps so I have included some of where we lived and travelled. While I disliked the yellow Hawaiian shirt, which he called his “party shirt", I am now grateful to have been able to incorporate it in the quilt. The back has newspaper print as he spent a lot of time reading his newspapers. I have made identical quilts for our two sons. Design: Traditional Log Cabin blocks Machine pieced using recycled clothing, machine quilted on a hand-guided longarm quilting machine.

A sign that says: Your Mother. Your Daughter. Your Sister. Your Grandmother. You. Laura Shaw Feit Portland, Oregon, USA Statement: After the leak of the draft Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I felt the need to work through my anger and frustration knowing that a fundamental human right to essential health care was soon to be lost for millions of women. The 3,000 squares of this quilt form a red cross—a potent emblem of protection and care-that swirls and fractures around the edges. Each square, made of red fabrics covering the full spectrum from purple to orange, solid to patterned, is uniquely shaped. It's a visual reminder of how each woman must uniquely cope with the unpredictability of having a uterus, and how all women collectively depend on access to safe reproductive care and safe, legal abortion. Materials: Cotton, vintage and re-purposed fabric Techniques: Improvisationally cut and pieced, machine pieced, longarm quilted
