Do men feel like "they can't abandon masculinity"? Is that a widespread feeling men have?

I don't see it much. What I see the most is men that don't want to abandon masculinity.

I think the difference between "I can't" and "I don't wanna" is big enough to be worth splitting. For instance, when trying to think of reasons for men that "can't" abandon masculinity, you're looking for externalities (pressure). If you think about why don't men "want to", you'll find plenty of self-serving reasons and rationalization, which in my opinion is a more realistic framing.

The phaseout is now years ahead of schedule, in large part due to natural gas taking over much of the generation. Many coal plants were either replaced by gas plants or converted to burn natural gas instead. Electricity generated from natural gas puts out roughly half the amount of greenhouse gas emissions as compared with coal.

Ok, so fossil fuel is still the primary driver. But well, incremental improvements do matter. Zeroing out coal this year is a great milestone.

The share from renewables is growing too, even if a bit slowly.

The moratorium already gave way to a ridiculously restrictive ruling but at least it's not outright block so while it's still sad, it's not entirely hopeless - which sums up Alberta politics as always.

That wouldn't make sense, but even if that was not a joke, it would be out of scope. The legislation is likely to focus on requiring platforms to moderate content more strongly; plus maybe penalties for cyberbullying, deepfakes and such.

Being insensitive online is unlikely to ever become a crime, let alone something that can prosecuted retroactively.

Ottawa will only process a limited number of study permit applications from institutions in each province. If an application is refused because officials don't believe the applicant is genuine or has enough money to complete the study, that potential enrolment spot will be wasted.

"You're going to see decreasing numbers of African students coming to Canada, not because they're not interested. It's just because the institutions are not going to use their quotas for countries with lower visa approvals."

Non-english languages sometimes have other words for it, if they encountered it before the Zipper was widespread. In Spanish we have cremallera and cierre. Old timers say fecho-de-correr or "fecho eclair" in Portuguese, referring to another patent holder Éclair Prestil.

I guess it makes sense that the psychology community would push back against the claim that pornography fits a scientific definition of addiction. The same deal goes for sugar: many people talk about sugar being addictive, but it's pretty absurd to classify sugar as addictive substance, and the article raises this point very explicitly:

That isn’t to say that people can’t use pornography compulsively, as you may compulsively eat donuts or bacon every day against the best interests of your heart

And that's what most people usually mean when they're addicted to it. So I wouldn't say that it's indoctrination or "hive mind", it's just how people use the word "addiction" in day-to-day, non-scientifically-precise ways. You're absolutely right to point that out because people should not seek addiction treatment for porn consumption, but it's also understandable to seek treatment for compulsive consumption of whatever. Just like sugar and junk food, while the science doesn't say it's addiction, it also presents endless evidence on the negative effects of common patterns of consumption.

Well, that's not the argument I'd make, nor does it seem to be the one presented by the sources for the article. I agree that this would be very wishy washy!
