Last month was by far the warmest April that humans have ever experienced — our 11th consecutive record-breaking month. April 2024 was 1.58°C above the pre-industrial baseline.

🚨 We are in a climate emergency. 🚨

And yet, all we get from our “leaders” is more Business As Usual.

@breadandcircuses no one is willing to face the facts and they won’t until the corps fail and famine hits the world like a sledgehammer. The crops WILL fail because at some point the plants will not be able to grow in the heat. It is not an IF situation it is a WHEN.

So far this week...

The FTC banned the use of noncompete clauses.

The DOL strengthened overtime rules.

The FCC restored .

The DOT expanded protections for airline passengers.

This is what it looks like when the government works on behalf of the people.

The Baltic countries are raising the middle finger to Putin and switching their railway from the old Russian width to European width, and building an enormous railway all the way from Helsinki in Finland to Warsaw in Poland, where it connects to the existing European railway system.

249 kph means 3½ hour rides between European capitals — using clean electrical energy thereby helping our climate too.

Why is the owner of X meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago?

The last thing we need is more influence buying by the billionaire class.

Trump may be in dire financial straits, but if there’s some kind of bailout in the works, the American people deserve to know all about it.

The capitalist fossil fuel industry rolls on, stronger than ever. Production of refined oil, of liquid natural gas, of petrochemicals to make more plastics — all are now at record highs.

And as industry churns, it fuels commerce, with giant container ships criss-crossing the globe, carrying cheap disposable consumer items, quickly used then thrown out as trash.

Greenhouse gases accumulate in the atmosphere, trapping excess energy from the sun. The Earth gets warmer and warmer, yet 90% of that surplus heat is absorbed by the oceans.

For now.
