hey folks!

i got a slightly weird request for an artist

my wife has a t-shirt idea she'd really like to see on herself, and also out in the world

(it's about White Gladis the hero orca)

i'm looking for someone who already sells their own artwork on t-shirts to:

  1. take our money for an art commission (we will pay you to make art)

  2. host the finalized thing on your storefront so other people who like it can buy it (other people will also pay you, hopefully, for the cool art)

As you probably rarely request art, I thought you might like to consider that

  1. It helps to state how much you're willing to spend publicly, so that artists can work out how much effort they need to put in. This also saves artists and you from being sucked into some kind of private bidding war.

  2. What's your aim here? There may be more than one route to achieve your goal.

Great book covers sell good books. Book shop browsers are always drawn in by an intriguing cover.

It's worth remembering that some of us (readers) are visually tuned in and may be oblivious to reviews when we're scanning the shelves.

These buttercup flowers caught my eye, with their deep yellow contrasting against a green lawn. So, even though it's been a stormy day, I made time to sketch them when the sunshine came back late in the day.

Wo bleiben die Universitäten im Fediverse?

Warum betreiben Universitäten nicht schon längst eigene Mastodon-Instanzen?

Warum bekommen Studierende nicht mit der Immatrikulation auch einen Mastodon-Handle?

Warum hosten Universitäten Vorlesungsvideos nicht über PeerTube im Fediverse?

Es gibt einiges, das für ein stärkeres Engagement von Universitäten im Fediverse spricht.

I suspect that UK universities are limited by government policy and contract agreements as to what official platforms they can use

That said, I'm sure there must be a lot of personal Fedi accounts in @academicchatter @edutooters and so on.

Can any academics comment?
