Hello fellow academic researchers, I am having a discussion with a sociologist about whether and to what degree a social science degree should and can include courses on history and historical methodology. To make my case, which should be based on existing research and researchers, I am looking for sociologists and political scientists, who have either worked historically or have thought about how and why history should be part of social science thinking.

Pro-Israel counter-protesters at UCLA previously took part in anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-vaccine events across Southern California.

Some of the pro-Israel counter protesters are also associated with local Proud Boy and Three Percenter militia chapters and fundamentalist Christian churches.

I had never come across an historical article published anonymously. But in the Fall issue of "Critical historical Studies" there is one. A note at the bottom of the page clarifies: "The editors have granted anonymity to this article’s author, who cited concerns about access to future research opportunities in Congo." Got called a fascist by a Biden supporter for..... saying I support Biden?

Lesson of the day: Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath, put your phone down, and remind yourself that you simply cannot win on social media.

Me: That is exactly the problem I am trying to point out here though. It has become impossible to make the smallest criticism about one party without people instantly accusing you of supporting the opposing party. I support Biden, I am going to vote with Biden, and I think it is very problematic when people become afraid to criticize parts of a thing that they generally support. Someone replying to my above comment: Okay fascist, get the fuck off my timeline

    Bemerkenswert: Deutsche Wirtschaft fordert "parteiübergreifenden Schulterschluss der demokratischen Parteien" zum klimaneutralen Umbau der Wirtschaft ("Transformation"). Dafür ist eine Lockerung der Schuldenbremse notwendig.

    Cancer seems to be hitting historians a lot lately: In December another young historian died of cancer: Mathieu Segers. @histodons R.I.P.
