ramble81 , to News in Home price inflation is so high, it's changing American economic life

I always tell people to look at the average salary and home price for a year and calculate how many hours it’d take to buy a home. Then do the same for now and from the 70s, think it was almost a 5.5x increase. Inflation is fine when it’s across the board, but because salaries aren’t keeping up it’s creating bigger and bigger gaps.

ramble81 , to News in The US needs to build 2 million houses to revive the American dream of homeownership

Doesn’t technically the bank own it until you pay off your mortgage? I’d be curious how many have the titles to their house.

ramble81 , to Ask Lemmy in Older women, women with weight changes or visible disabilities, or transfolk of Lemmy - how has the male gaze changed for you?

How does that change people’s responses?

ramble81 , to Automotive Industry in The time has come: Fisker has filed for bankruptcy

But two and keep one for parts

ramble81 , to World News in 'The Abyss Is Beckoning': Global Nuke Spending Surged to $2,898 a Second in 2023

Seriously. Pick a better unit of measurement. I’m not going to multiply it out by 86,400 x 365 to figure out the actual amount.

ramble81 , to World News in Kotak’s CEO says Indians should work 84 hours a week

He wants them to be like Asian cultures such as Japan and Korea… you know the ones that are going through severe population decline, have some of the highest rates of suicide and family units are being decimated from having no other time. It really amazes me how single minded rich people can be and they think they have the answers to a complex problem.

ramble81 , to Today I Learned (TIL) in TIL Brooklyn used to have a huge elephant brothel until it burned down

That explains the one that was in the movie. I was curious about that.

ramble81 , to politics in Donald Trump said Joan Rivers voted for him in 2016. She died in 2014

It’s possible someone named Joan Rivers voted for him, but I highly doubt it was the famous comedian.

ramble81 , to World News in ‘The whole supply chain is subsidised’: inside the EU’s blockbuster Chinese EV probe

Cool cool. Remove oil and gas subsidies and let’s see how much the true TCO is for owners (not manufacturers)

ramble81 , to Video Game Art in Portal 2 - GLaDOS

“Oh. It’s you…”

ramble81 , to Ask Lemmy in What movies & tv shows use Dolby Atmos really well?

Yeah I have a discreet Atmos setup and most times I can’t tell if the speakers are being used (receiver correctly shows Atmos) but a sound test works.

ramble81 , to Today I Learned (TIL) in TIL America’s Loneliness Epidemic: Nearly 40 MILLION American adults now live alone and they are 64% more likely to be depressed than their peers

Any online communities? What are your interests and most likely someone here on Lemmy is also a vore larping furry.

ramble81 , to You Should Know in Registering as an "Independent" party member doesn't mean you have no party affiliation; most states have an Independent party who has a platform that you may or may not agree with!

And the only way you can vote in a primary is to register with them you can do it on the spot if you want, but once you do it, that’s it. You can’t immediately turn around and go vote in another primary. For that year you’re noted as being with that party (I’ve gotten more than enough magat spam to prove that). You realize everything you’ve posted and said supports what I’m saying.

Don’t suppose you read your own link….

31. (§162.010). A voter who has affiliated themselves with a party is ineligible to participate in the party affairs of another party during the same calendar year. (§§162.012, 162.013)

Yes you can flip every year but you have to chose a party to vote in their primary. That’s what I said.
