Could you help me out with some information for my next episode?

Which country are you from, and which segment of the population would you say prefers Mastodon in your country?

For instance, in Denmark I would say the Danish right-wingers are very much organised on X, while the apolitical are often Instagram users.

But who is on Mastodon in your country and why?

@randahl I’m from Russia 😄

From my point of view, Mastodon is only somewhat known by Russian IT professionals and geeks, regardless of their political views, and is mostly unnoticed by everyone else.

Hence, Russian Mastodon audience seems mostly apolitical to me — politics is a thing for the good ol’ Twitter.

@randahl it is, but everyone who wants to use it, uses it freely via VPN (same as much more popular and common Instagram).

VK is still the one of the two most popular old-fashioned social networks (like Facebook, but it was so much better before the government took control of it) — with second one being OK, mostly used by older people.

And Telegram is the hugest messenger app, a comprehensive communication tool, and a most modern social network — altogether.
