As an admin of my personal instance, sometimes I can't help but wish my "Federated" feed was more lively.

Then I go to any bigger instance and wish it was actually readable...there's got to be some sort of middle ground, somehow. I haven't figured it out yet though.

Under normal circumstances, federation on Mastodon requires follow relationships. However, I cannot follow every single account on Fedi, obviously. Furthermore, the tools that I have found to alleviate the problem, either don't work as well as they seem, or are "all or nothing" firehoses that pull everything.

Hopefully one day I'll figure something out.

While has official container images, why does the documentation only contain really horrible, manual from source installation instructions that should never end up on a productive server ever?

With so many inexperienced mastodon admins (which is fine, go experiment!) and a software that is meant to be distributed and self hosted, it's inexcusable to not push for a sustainable and less error prone deployment method.

Companies use docker and kubernetes all the time.

Instead of making their code better, they use kubernetes to scale their apps in containers

Containers are faster and lighter than a VM so devs use it a lot too

Is NextCloud the only way to have a folder that's accessible over the web for Windows? 🤔

Been wanting to do this without paying extra for a NAS. I have like 10 TB of storage on my windows PC and it'd be quite useful if I can utilize it for backing up my iPhone and Android pics/videos.
