Publicly stating it here so a) other people can see what this company has done and b) to create some accountability and ensure I act on it in a timely fashion.

I have had a @fastmail account for years, at least since 2019. I find it very useful. However, unless they cease their union-busting tactics immediately, I will no longer be using their service, and I recommend that nobody else does either. An "ethical" or "privacy-first" company that can't stomach a union is one you can't trust.

I'm sympathetic to the idea that we shouldn't expect end users to choose their own OS. I am completely unsympathetic to the idea that we shouldn't expect organizations - including businesses, nonprofits, and universities - to protect their customers' data by not using Windows, when Windows is becoming spyware.

if you know of good space operas with civilizations that aren't themed around the Roman Empire and are ideally written from non-Western perspectives (that is to say, not "the UN turned into the space hegemony" type shit), i would really like to hear about them!
