Using US weapons, Israel bombs a UN school in Gaza killing 40.

Their excuse? 9 of them were terrorists.

Imagine if your local police got a tip about 9 criminals at you local school, and they decided to solve the problem by bombing the school killing 40 people. Would any sane person accept that?

This is a clear violation of the principle of proportionality and therefore a violation of international law.

Again.

@randahl Israel is claiming that a ratio of 3 to 1 civilians to militants is justifiable. On October 7, Hamas killed only 2 civilians for every security personnel. Was that justified? Absolutely not. Neither attack is remotely justifiable.

"The five Superheroes of the Transition – the megatrends that will help get the world to net zero: Exponential growth [of clean energy], system solutions, great power competition, disappearing demand and the primary energy fallacy.

There is in fact a sixth Superhero, or rather a superpower that lies within all of us. I believe society has reached a tipping point beyond which it is unthinkable not to deal with climate change, pollution and environmental degradation."

A graphic reminder that if you drive to the grocery store by yourself in your SUV, you might as well fly (from a purely carbon emissions perspective).

Also, where are the e-bikes on this graphic.

@CelloMomOnCars this is UK data, so it's also a bit misleading about what trains could offer. Some National Rail is diesel and some is electric, the electric one would be just as good as Eurostar, presumably. But Eurostar could be better still. Deutsche Bahn's ICE uses green electricity, unlike Eurostar.

@CelloMomOnCars thinking about it, are they also assuming that the electric cars are charged with electricity from fossil fuels?
