Some one asked in DM how to identify ants. So here is my method:

The best resource online is

https://www.inaturalist.org/

This is an effectively peer-reviewed database of correctly identified photos of insects.

To identify an ant search for "ants" then set your region to the location where you saw the ant. Look through the photos until you see a match.

I wrote this story last year, thinking about the future and about plants, dying along and displacement. It's called "Bolting." Came back to it today.

It takes place in what I think could be a very realistic near future. It begins with two women who work cleaning up the apartments of those who die alone.

Some people are justifying the US CDC potentially weakening its COVID isolation guidelines because other countries like the UK have already done it for a while.
