We're at peak Kwanzan cherry blossom here!

A turned and cropped fisheye view of four Kwanzan cherry trunks and canopies. The blossoms are a delicate pink and double, with petals that have slightly serrated edges which lends to the blossoms looking a bit like a tissue-paper flower.

I went outside today after all. Rosie's been digging in the garden beds and big pots and can't currently be trusted for too long alone.

The lichen on the cherry tree is really liking this rain! Hur hur hur ... I'll be all night! :blobcateyescoffee:

A closeup- of a round-ish light green lichen on a grayish-brown branch. The lichen has frilly, ruffled edges. I actually wonder if there's another type growing on top of it; the green changes to something yellower, more deep like the green of moss.

The U shaped part of a grayish-brown tree trunk, with two lichen-covered large branches framing the left, bottom and right of the scene. The lichen is bright green and so are the leaves just starting to come in on the trees in the woods in the background. There's a bright red male cardinal in the distance. He's close enough that you can see he's bending oddly, possibly looking at me slash you slash us and getting ready to fly off, which was his next move.

    garden update (possibly one of many since spring just started

    A red Japanese maple blossom with unfurling leaves, with white cherry blossoms and bare trees behind it.
    An edible cherry tree with white blossoms on its branches that opened mostly yesterday for the first time. Beneath the tree is a hint of purple; periwinkle flowers are also in bloom.
    A dandelion and about 10 purple periwinkle blossoms: gotta take care of the early pollinators!

    @dillyd Any signs of cherry blossoms chez Val? This is our one tree that produces actual cherries (although they're more pit than cherry) and then we have several doubles cherry blossom trees than have just started budding out.

    @dillyd The doubles are Kwanzan cherry trees. When they bloom, I'm planning a surprise! picnic with my partner under them.
