His unique stance is actually the optimal position to be in to defend against a sudden future martial arts attacks. He had to instantly teach it to himself during the first attempt, since no one has even seen these types of attacks yet, but he did it, and survived. They say no one else could have done it but him.

That's not a "straight pride" flag, that's a "doubling down on our anti-LGBTQ+ agenda because they dare to defy us with their own flag" flag. I'm straight, that flag does not represent me, it represents bigoted fucks. There are already several flags for that.

When I learned about that one is when I figured out all symbolism of anything good is doomed to stray from it's original meaning. Fools and assholes will ultimately adopt them in an attempt to appear more credible on the surface, when people start figuring them out, they associate that symbol with that behavior, and it's game over. They do it to flags, religious totems, words, anything that might be able to grant them a benefit-of-the-doubt buff for a while.

The Billionaire-Fueled Lobbying Group Behind the State Bills to Ban Basic Income Experiments in the U.S. ( www.scottsantens.com )

The Foundation for Government Accountability was founded in Florida in 2011 by Tarren Bragdon after cutting his chops in Maine at the Maine Heritage Policy Center and then as adviser to Maine's governor, LePage. It was in Maine where Bragdon and a cohort of fellow young conservatives gained a reputation for outrageous...

Experiments are always theater anyway. There's no point in experimenting, the change only happens when it's "universal". It's in the fucking name. Just do it.

Questions about cleaning a PET ( lemmy.blahaj.zone )

I've had some pretty bad experience about cleaning older Machines such as my NES, where I've accidentally rubbed a lot of the letters and number off and noticed too late. Thats something im particularly worried about when it comes to the keycaps. Is there a reason to worry or tactics I should try to avoid rubbing the letters...

Even the people that can afford it no longer want to work in the industry because capitalism has made them entirely profit oriented and very unrewarding to be a part of, both financially and spiritually.

‘I’m not ready, brother’: US man to be put to death months after botched execution attempt ( www.theguardian.com )

Kenneth Smith, 58, is facing execution by an untested method that has never before been used in capital punishment in the US. It’s a technique that has been rejected on ethical grounds by veterinarians for the euthanasia of most animals other than pigs: death by nitrogen gas.

Are you talking about those security questions? So dumb. After having days-long trouble getting my internet fixed because of them, I started treating those as additional passwords, generate the answers with my password manager, and save them in the notes section of the entry.

Billy Mitchell has surrendered ( perfectpacman.com )

Billy Mitchell didn't win his defamation lawsuit against Twin Galaxies. Not only was Billy not in a position to get a financial settlement, Billy's cheated Donkey Kong scores were not reinstated(as he's claiming), and his claimed Pac-Man score from 1999 is also not on the main scoreboards. What had happened is that the score is...

Labels are for other people to describe you, the second you put one on yourself, you're just showing what an insecure fool you are. People are supposed to figure that out for themselves around highschool age.

Anyone else watch the new Ghibli movie and want the knife?

@edc

Studio Ghibli's new movie, The Boy and the Heron, prominently places quite a few traditional Japanese knives, including kitchen knives, a sword, and the boy's pocket knife, a Higonokami. They're a carbon steel friction folder. I just thought it was a vibe seeing it in the movie.

If you want to buy one, fuck Amazon and Chinese copies, go directly to the source!
Edit: higonokami-knife.com may be less legit than others. See comment

Haven't seen the movie but I'm in the market for a pocket knife, and that looks as cool as anything I've ever seen. I'm sold but all of my credit cards ran out of my wallet to hide when I opened the website.

Edit: Got it anyway. Card didn't remove themselves from PayPal :) I didn't think there was any chance they were going to Use PayPal, even if they did, I would have assumed it would have to be done as a "gift to a friend". I'll be opening packages in major style for the rest of my life ✌️ And I gotta see this movie, I stopped looking for Hayao Miyazaki films a long time ago, I didn't hear about this one. Or maybe I did, didn't realize who was behind it and assumed it was just another Netflix anime. Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle were 2 of my favorite movies. I could have sworn I was a kid when I first saw them but, now that I see the IMDB, they were just early 2000's. I was in my 20's :)

I see you updated the post to say that site might not be quite legit. I got mine today and visibly, it's as advertised, however I have no clue how to authenticate any other claims they've made, such as the source and exactly what it's made out of. Any ideas what I could look at to verify?

Either way, I'm happy with what I got for the price even if the story is bullshit. I was able to use PayPal properly (no "gift to a friend" bs I've seen on other scammy sites). The price on the site is the price, no additional shipping cost (it did ship from Japan), no tax (that might be a bit sus). It got here in 2 weeks, and it's as sharp as a thing can be as far as I'm concerned. My only complaint is it's really stiff out of the box (I was afraid I was going to slip and cut myself trying to open it) but after watching a few videos talking about them, I think that might be by design as they seem to be applying about the same amount of force I am. Also, I've never had a knife that opens like this so it's probably mostly just my fear of the unknown, and I'm already getting used to it.
