Well...even Fediverse isn't immune to enshittification.

I have a feeling it'll be a LOT less social here once Mastodon implements this...🤦‍♂️🤬

My plan is to be off this ridiculous software before they implement such stupid things.

I thought this was SOCIAL Media, not "yell into the void" Media.

@BeAware This is a defense mechanism when you get a lot of spammers responding to your posts.

@BeAware Maybe. And you can unfollow those who opt to use the feature.

In theory, I can see I would want to have a conversation with people with who we follow each other and avoid spam/spambots. In theory.

But given the population on Mastodon, I don’t expect it’s needed and muting/blocking is quite enough.

@BeAware Which is what you're arguing against, or do I not understand properly? I’m probably missing the point, I guess (as I can see I can set “followers/mentions only” in the post settings already).

@BeAware Oh, now I get it. The current setting is for visibility, the proposed setting is for who can reply. 👍

Well, then it goes back to the beginning of our conversation, but we’ve already exchanged our opinions on that.

@GottaLaff @willbunch It’s beyond my understanding how the Democrats didn’t choose anyone better than senile Biden. There are supposed to be the two best candidates, and apparently both parties chose the worst. Unbelievable.
