"In 2024, for the first time, it finally feels like we have a critical mass of people and platforms who are interested in rewilding the internet to bring back what we lost, and create something new. ... There's a palpable feeling that this just might be the year of the open web."

is this feeling... hope? https://activitypub.ghost.org/day-0/

Last night I may have... perhaps... taken my basic Linux From Scratch system and installed Xwindows on it.

And Fluxbox, because nobody needs TWM.

I was fine with just Links but... I feel like I now need a graphical web browser.

Compiling a modern web browser, though? Not easy. Hmmm. What to do...

Also, what other things to add? A text mode IRC client maybe?

As in the other picture, but now with added Fluxbox! My favourite ultra minimalist WM. Multiple windows are open - two terminals, Midnight Commander, and top running.

@vampiress Modern web browsers are the only reason I run a graphical desktop stack at all. I wish I could do all of my banking and bills with lynx.

And for text IRC clients, irssi is king!

@vampiress I got comfortable with i3 a long time ago and haven't really looked again.

@RikerGoogling Yes; though despite a longer beard, I usually end up stroking the left side of my mustache when thinking...
