Anyone have any tips for cutting double row right angle header pins? I have a brunch of these, need to cut them down into 2x2. Flush cutters work but really butcher them leaving jagged edges. Tried looking for a 3D printed cutter tool or something, haven't found any yet.

Proxxon has a cheap-ish shell that holds their spindle tool in a vise. Please wear protective goggles, though. Those discs shatter so easily.

(Edit: the upper part used to be sold separately, you probably have a vise somewhere anyway https://www.proxxon.com/de/micromot/28410.php )

@claudius @kaybee335 @Unixbigot @jasoncoon I’m doing my best to get in the habit of wearing safety glasses over my normal glasses anytime I use a Dremel no matter the bit. They tend to spray stuff everywhere.

I've requested my refund, and I strongly urge anyone that bought a Spotify CarThing to request a refund as well. Let's make this ridiculous decision as expensive for them as possible.

This kind of bullshit should be illegal. Spotify is effectively remotely bricking every single "Car Thing" device it ever sold, telling users to factory reset and "recycle" them. The devices were initially made publicly available only two years ago in Feb 2022, then discontinued production in July 2022.

Thanks to @timonsku, I'm now backing up my Spotify Car Thing and preparing to flash this "Debian Chromium Kiosk" firmware to it, to convert it to a "Wall Thing". I'm thinking it might make a nice touch control panel for @octoprint or ?

Hey @timonsku did you ever root or do anything with your Spotify Car Thing? I still have one in the box, but have not yet tried.
Since Spotify is effectively remotely bricking every single one of these devices it ever sold (which really should be illegal) it sure would be nice if they'd completely open-source it.

@jasoncoon @timonsku we're also collecting a bunch of stuff here. For now, it's mostly a list of links out to other projects.

OK I have to admit this argument for using let over const for most cases in JavaScript/TypeScript almost has me convinced.
I'm sure I'm going to continue to prefer const, but I see the point.

I don't read this as an argument against const tbh. And similar discussions have happened in other languages as well. In ruby it became common to also call "freeze" on constants. (Haven't done a lot of ruby lately, not sure how this has progressed)

Const is partly about the guarantee, but (IMO) also partly about communicating intent to a fellow programmer.

@claudius @jasoncoon I awe the point though, and for me the issue is const doesn't for far enough for objects, as they're still mutable, just not reassignable.
Read only types are often rare, and usually only apply to lists etc (and even then, it's the list, not the object in it), so making the binding const doesn't really do all that much there

This giant Fibonacci flower was the best kind of collaboration, as @maketvee did all of the work!
It has 128 rings, each with 8 LEDs, for a total of 1024 LEDs. He split it into an inner "FiboBlade" disc and 21 "FiboNanas" that lock into place and mount using soldered header pins.
    More details ⬇️🧵

The center FiboBlade disc connected to a PixelBlaze LED controller. The LEDs on the FiboBlade are lit up in a gradient of colors.
The Fibonacci Flower fully assembled and lit up. The 21 FiboNanas are attached to the central FiboBlade disc, radiating outward. The whole assembly resembles a flower.
The back of the assembly, showing wires connecting the various parts.
