So far alive 87 years, and retiring this year from film location location stuff. I tried a little of everything in life. Love art, books, my family, Dickens (my cat and Charles), parentheses,( see above), good food, politics, learning new things. Living in an old National Monument ( just like me) in CA. #art #reading #edinburgh #politics #🇺🇦 #news #CastleGreen #offbeatHistory #🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #film #leCarre #JoNesbo #MickHerron #LenDeighton #curling #Japan #ukiyoe #babyBackRibsForDinner #napkins

@TootTropiques @bookstodon Where oh where is the Len Deighton of 2024? I miss his books so much, but can’t just keep reading them over again. Also, who is the new LeCarre? Does anyone have suggestions for me? I’ll try anyone.

@trif @TootTropiques @bookstodon Thanks, I’ve read them all, maybe twice. He and Robert Littell are the only inheritors of the spy novel genre that I love ve and can think of right now, but if you can suggest others, I’m here and needy!

I’ve bought the first “ Fractured” and read the first 3 pages. I like the confidential writing style, and I’m hoping I have 4 books to keep me happy for a bit. Thanks!

@trif @TootTropiques @bookstodon Now into Fractured Europe and enjoying it. Thanks for the tip. Never heard of it, and had a hard time finding it. But worth the effort. 👍

@TootTropiques @bookstodon Devoured Mick Herron, at least twice, and then the series though that Oldman is not MY Jackson Lamb. My mind sees Stephan Fry at his dirtiest, fartiest. What do you think?

@trif @TootTropiques @bookstodon OK, now I am absolutely stuck-in-love with Dave Hutchinson. On his 2nd in Fractured series and have rest on pad waiting to be read. Thank you. Thank you! Who knew? Me and Science Fiction! Never saw it coming.

Yesterday I posted a review of books 3 - 7 in the "Dublin Trilogy" (Adrian McKinty, I'm looking at you...)

Anyway, I listened to these, they were funny, bit on the silly side and really enjoyable.

OK. Love me some Bunny McGarry, but how does that relate to my other love, Adrian McGinty? Other than maybe you are pumping for McGinty to get back to Belfast with more in his series?? Anyway, just wanting to add my praise to yours for both those authors. Two Gems. Thanks.

@kcfromaustcrime @bookstodon No. on it now. It’s 12:15 here, and I’m still reading, so I’ll check that out. Thanks. I Just finished The Prague Sonata, not anything like our Irish friends, but a good long read on music. I know you have read all the Len Deighton. Sure wish he was still alive. I’m off to check out Bloomsbury. I like your taste. So thanks again. It gets harder and harder to find books I like reading. I have lived too long.

@kcfromaustcrime @bookstodon thanks for the tip on Dead Trilogy. Never read anything by Barrett, and now, since you mentioned it, I have read 4 of the Eddie series and 2 of the Roger Trilogy. Thanks, and I’ve got 6 more waiting on my Kindle so I am in forensic heaven. Great leads!
