Things that happened on AustCrime last week:

https://www.austcrimefiction.org/blog/updates-week-ending-14th-june

Highlights were a most unusual read in Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton, getting to review Going Zero by Andrew McCarten and starting in on a couple of excellent books - one part of a series, the other a debut.

Review of GOING ZERO by Andrew McCarten posted at:

https://www.austcrimefiction.org/review/going-zero-andrew-mccarten

Technology based thriller which worked for this reader (they often don't). Surveillance contest between tech bro and a book reader that goes down the wire with heaps at stake for both parties.

    My review of the not as cosy as you'd think from the look of it crime novel The Tea Ladies by Amanda Hampson:

    https://www.austcrimefiction.org/review/tea-ladies-amanda-hampson

    THE TEA LADIES by Amanda Hampson is one of those interesting sort of novels that tippy toes a line between its cosy(ish) setting and some considerably more ruthless plot lines with a deftness that made for a really enjoyable reading experience.

    Yesterday I posted a review of books 3 - 7 in the "Dublin Trilogy" (Adrian McKinty, I'm looking at you...)

    https://www.austcrimefiction.org/review/dublin-trilogy-books-3-7-caimh-mcdonnell

    Anyway, I listened to these, they were funny, bit on the silly side and really enjoyable.

    @bookstodon

    kcfromaustcrime OP ,
    @kcfromaustcrime@mastodon.online avatar

    @jancampbellcady @bookstodon

    The reference is really all about Irish authors & their concept of a trilogy :) McKinty's Sean Duffy series was billed as a trilogy, until book 4 came out. Then we didn't know what to call it anymore, and however you look at it, The Dublin Trilogy with 7 books and 2 novellas... it made me laugh a lot :) There is a 7th book in the Duffy series on the way here now - The Detective Up Late (which just to add to the confusion appears to be also known as Cold Water).

    kcfromaustcrime OP ,
    @kcfromaustcrime@mastodon.online avatar

    @jancampbellcady @bookstodon

    And I'm guessing you've read the Bloomsbury / Dead Trilogy (which did turn out to be 3 books!) :)
