I graduated in environmental system sciences and worked on land use, biodiversity and resilience for a couple of years. Not working as a scientist anymore though, currently I am at a company that constructs optical fibre networks doing geodata stuff there. I like permaculture, birdwatching, floss software and taichi. My hometown is Flensburg right now.

Over the last three months, the temperatures assessed across all latitude bands were warmer than the 1951-1980 average, except around the Southern Ocean/Antarctic.

[Plot shows zonal-mean surface temperature anomalies, with latitude = y-axis (not scaled by distance). GISTEMPv4.]

@ZLabe Thank you again for sharing a cool plot. I just wondered why you used a rather uncommon reference period, has it to do with data availability?

I find it beautiful as pretty much all of your visualizations (despite the (often) dire content) but to me it looks like there would be darkness in Northern Scandinavia instead of the midnight sun.

Today is a good day because one of my students drew me an ant. 🐜 (and it’s a pretty good ant too)
