Do they all get dressed in pitch black darkness?

Same, and I was getting concerned when I got halfway down the list and I didn't see it yet. I've always liked the pterodactyl as well, because it's basically the closest we'll get to a wyvern.

You should read Ender's Game if you haven't already.

The gun firing is probably not quite as bad because I assume most of the time it wouldn't actually be loaded.

Assumptions are typically frowned upon when dealing with munitions. Not to imply that you're incorrect with that line of thought. The issue comes into play when the tank operator makes the same assumption and happens to get a little cold. Guns really should only have one trigger.

Why shield the cables when they already have a rubberized coating?

EMI filters? There's an air intake filter already though?

I love how the AI art understands that there should be more stuff in a sub. There's pipes and wires in that image, where on the now crushed sub, it was a smooth room into which they were bolted. Even the AI image controller has a wire on it.

What an interesting piece. It's nestled right in the uncanny valley. I want to see this as a relaxing, lazy summer day, but there's a general sense of unease, a sense of impending dread.

Makes me think of a community trying to enjoy themselves under threat of impending nuclear strike, or some situation akin to Vivarium.

A training camp? To learn standards and techniques to an industry standard? But I thought fast food employees were unskilled workers?

I was told books 1-4 and then the last few were amazing. I wasn't enraptured by the first few, so I put it down as well. I didn't want to slog through 5 more books in the hopes I'd potentially enjoy 4 more.

See how many times you can skip it on a lake.

About as often as I skip electronics on bodies of water.

Kneejerk reactions to the last kneejerk reaction, due to someone upending the status quo by being a good idea fairy and updating policy so as not to go by tribal knowledge. During the upheaval, it is revealed that the change was policy all along, but was disregarded for being inefficient. So instead of writing policy around the method that works, a square peg gets pushed through a round hole for the sake of leadership ego and trying to leave their mark.

I used to think getting groceries would be a weekly or biweekly thing. I'm in that fucking store every day and a half to four days.

That's what my first thoughts were as well, but they were flying in some pretty nasty weather. Thick fog, high winds, in a remote forested mountain range. While it is entirely possible that the CIA and IDF may have collaborated on some impromptu helicopter modifications, I think the question is less "Who could have done this?" and is more "Why were they flying in those conditions?"

Just gotta redraw the third panel showing the missile coming from a ship first.

Or they're attempting to leverage a person's grief for financial gain.

halykthered ,
@halykthered@lemmy.ml avatar

I agree, but I figured I'd draw particular attention to this lie on the off chance that op was about to give a charlatan a sum of money in a misguided attempt to assuage some grief.

Depends on the radar sensitivity and the target acquisition software. More plane might not be more better if they can't lock on a target as small as a drone.

As soon as they start to look smug about their appearances, I berate them heavily. For about a week after, I'll make them wear unflattering accessories, such as snake skin chaps, or a boa made entirely from raw chicken. If they ever ask why, I yell at the top of my lungs about how one day they'll be ugly and need a plan b.

I hope this answer was at least as ridiculous as the question.

Blind Guardian's cover of Dream A Little Dream Of Me

The imagery that comes to mind is a special israeli kid facing a football goal, ball at his feet. Behind the kid with the ball is an american, cheering him on and encouraging him. Across from them is an iranian goalkeeper.

The israeli kicks the ball, the american cheers and praises as the ball slowly rolls across the grass. The iranian goalkeeper dives dramatically in the wrong direction, allowing the ball to roll in.

The american raises the drooling israeli child onto his shoulders while the stadium erupts into praise and celebration of the kid's accomplishment.

I see where you're coming from as well. Honestly, your mileage may vary. Do what you can in the moment. What happened to me may not apply in this situation. But if you need to talk, I'll be here.

Just talking about what I saw from my perspective. Your mileage may vary.

Exclusive: The Hobbit's Richard Armitage looks back on playing Thorin Oakenshield 11 years after its release ( www.hellomagazine.com )

"I have the map and the key to the mountain that was used in the film in a frame," he notes. "And I have Thorin's sword and his oaken shield. It's on my bookshelf!"...

halykthered ,
@halykthered@lemmy.ml avatar

As disappointing as those movies are, his portrayal of Thorin as he loses his grip is what I assess as the most interesting part. I could write essays on why those movies were garbage, but Thorin was a decent arc. At least in regards to Erebor and The Arkenstone, all that stuff about a pale orc was unnecessary.

Depends on the angle of the beam, the propagation of the wave, the shape of the reflective surface, the material of the reflective surface, the angle of the surface, the distance of the target.

I was late to work last Friday, intentionally, because my cat fell asleep in my lap while I was eating breakfast. That moment meant more to me than making sure I was there in time, no matter what it may have impacted. Working to live, not living to work, is the rallying cry upper management needs to come to terms with.

I agree, the only one I actually looked at was the biblically accurate angels. The rest was just like, alright, we get it.
