6 May 1940 | Betty Vredenburg, a Dutch Jewish girl, was born in Amsterdam to Abraham and Rachel.

She was murdered in a gas chamber of the Auschwitz camp on 21 May 1944.

28 January 1936 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Femmy Rika Keijzer, was born in Zwolle.

In October 1942 she was deported to Auschwitz and, after selection, murdered in a gas chamber. Her parents - Semmie and Sophia - also perished in the camp.

27 January 1891 | A Jewish woman, Mathilde Rothenberg, was born in Kalvarija (today Lithuania). In 1912 she emigrated to Norway.

On 26 November 1942 she was deported to Auschwitz and, after selection, murdered in a gas chamber.

20 January 1890 | A Pole, Romuald Mańko, was born. A locksmith.

He was deported to on 14 June 1940 from Tarnów in the first transport of Poles to the camp.

He perished in the camp on 9 November 1941.

20 January 1897 | A Polish Jew, Isaak Einstein, was born in Bialystok. During the war he lived in Belgium.

He arrived at Auschwitz on 3 September 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Malines / Mechelen. He was murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

@auschwitzmuseum Every fricking time one of these posts by Auschwitz Memorial come by I think "how cute, how pretty, how handsome, how nice they look" Until there's some who doesn't look cute or pretty or handsome, and they I think "how hardworking, how dependable, how unmissable" they look -- and then I go and count stolpersteine in Deventer, again.

I won't unsubscribe, but it's daily tears for me to follow this account.
