The best thing that ever happened to my writing was getting this iPad + stylus. Forcing myself out of my house, into a space where I can only use a red pen has helped hugely.

I think there is something satisfying about using a red pen (even a virtual one). That it's therefore SATISFYING rather than frustrating to remove/edit your own work makes me happier to do it.

(Yes, I'm writing a novel, despite having not released the first one I wrote yet. Writing: I just really have trouble NOT doing it.)

@vampiress oh, process question: do the cuts in the ipad make their way auto-magically into the source material, or you take this step to get a different perspective on the text and come back later to the source and change it in ways that might differ from the red pen?

always love it when people share their process. someday i'll have the guts as well 😰

To my shock, I found the Helios-44-2 full frame adapted onto the APS-C FujiFilm X-T50 was... quite good for street photography? I'm used to much wider lens setups but... I am really happy with how this dreary, rainy winter Sydney day looks through Helios using the Nostalgic Neg film simulation - and what the punched-in lens let me do from a distance.

It's also super wild that these are ~40mp images.

Welcome To The Real World - a man sits at a bus stop outside a boutique clothes shop, staring at the ground.
Laneway with Street Art.
Meta-street-photography - two people with DSLRs walking around taking photos together on King Street.

@vampiress yeah. you have convinced me. that's gonna be the first digital camera i ever buy. never saw the use in digital point-and-shoots, and the dslr's i was shown by people around me always felt lacking --both in physicality and character. you have shown me the way 🙇

Had to get packidge myself but...

I FRIGGIN GOT IT

My first brand-new digital camera. Only ever gotten second hand before, even my full frame Sony was second hand.

Fujifilm X-T50 - my first Fuji too. Unbelievably excited!

The X-T50 box, about to be opened.
The brand new, released-this-week Fujifilm X-T50, silver model. Gorgeous damn thing.
The beautiful dials on the top of the X-T50 as it charges.

@vampiress got "lucky" it's one of those things you can still find in meatspace, eh... so much isn't anymore 😞 sorry, and good luck 👍

This “winter” malarkey is bad. I’m going to take a stand and say it’s not good.

If we could stay forever in Spring and Autumn that’d be solid.

@vampiress 🤷 having moved from a place with mostly two seasons --the dry and the humid-- to a place with winters that dare you go out of your house... i actually like this winter malarkey. but i do agree that it could be with a bit less bite. and maybe shorter than 5 months. and yes, if we could make spring/fall the big seasons and winter/summer the liminal ones, that would actually be perfect.

User Interface design is wild

And by wild I mean hard

@vampiress well, and full of surprises and things jumping at you, and stare-downs with stuff bigger than you. yep. very apt.

After some SERIOUS and VERY SCIENCEY research (a quick internet search), I have determined that the average woman in Sydney is 34 and is called Jessica.

gureito ,
@gureito@peoplemaking.games avatar

@vampiress in my random sampling of webnovels this past year, i've stumbled upon three that had australian women as characters. jessicas were present in two and one actually have someone named shela. acual name, no slang. no other names were repeated other than jessica.

so, there might be something in your science 🤔
