Grave peril of digital conspiracy theories: 'What happens when no one believes anything anymore?' ( apnews.com )

Claims of “evidence” soon emerged: video footage on TikTok showing a beam of blinding white light, too straight to be lightning, zapping a residential neighborhood and sending flames and smoke into the sky. The video was shared many millions of times, amplified by neo-Nazis, anti-government radicals and supporters of the...

ECB labour costs since 2009 (which is as far back as their data goes) shows different.

girlfreddy OP ,
@girlfreddy@lemmy.ca avatar

It shows dips in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, and the pandemic.

Now compare that to ECB's report on unit profits where only twice (2009 and pandemic years) did profits dip ... and in fact in 2022-23 profits have risen dramatically.

Workers have always been short changed and these stats show it.

“What this study tries to do is to say” to plastic manufacturers that “‘it’s not just that you’re hurting people’s lives, it’s that you’re costing the economy. ... You are profiting as companies off the backs of people’s health and well-being,’” he said.

Plastic manufacturers and the companies who use those containers don't care what it does to us. They just don't want to be forced to spread manufacturing out, to save on increased transportation costs that would come from using glass containers instead.

But that's what gov'ts have to do to change anything ... shut down plastic usage and/or force those companies who use them to pay for the environmental damage and cost of healthcare.

Following his firing, Clark was hired by the Madison County’s Sheriff’s Department as a School Resource Officer at Madison Early College High School.

He did not show up for his shift on Jan. 8. and would “not be returning to work” the school’s Superintendent Dr. Will Hoffman confirmed to ABC 13.

Yeah ... that's a problem. Maybe PDs should start sharing info of fired cops so other PDs don't hire them.
