Warning to @thunderbird on Ubuntu: after upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04 (from 23.10) this morning, I was also upgraded to Thunderbird 115 (from 102).

Thunderbird 115 does not recognize any of my 102 profile data.

YMMV, but at least make a backup.

@pluralistic You also got it in a snap package.

<rant>I've discovered it with the same Ubuntu upgrade that re-forced Firefox snap, despite me having pin-priority set not install snapd ever.
That in turn I discovered because my KeePassXC integration wasn't working.
Two hours later I've converted my install to Mint in-place. <rant/>

And regarding the question of was it ethical to candidly record people that don't speak openly when being in the position of defining a nation's law, severely and directly affecting multiple people: yes, it was justified.

Comparison to Project “Veritas” is a low play. PV aim is to tar and feather opponents. Ms. Windsor used a persona that apparently got the judges to speak what they have on their minds.

The French baguette is burning.

After a shocking defeat in the EP elections, French president Macron calls for a snap national election on June 30.

His party, Renaissance, got just 15.2 percent, while the far-right nationalist populists of Marine Le Pen's National Rally party got 31.5.

I see this as a highly dangerous moment for European security. Marine Le Pen is the exact opposite of Macron — she parrots Putin's talking points, and did not want to send weapons to Ukraine in the beginning.
