Go and Rust developer making restaurants do k8s and IoT. I also do stuff with OAuth2.

I play guitar and French horn, enjoy weightlifting and cooking.

All opinions are my own, yadda yadda yadda.

Avatar is a duckling wearing those stereotypical, black-rimmed nerd glasses. It’s giving a “come hither” type look.

Background is my pup, a white Bichon Frisé/poodle/King Charles spaniel mix, sleeping.

In Oklahoma they are passing a law to mandate a Bible be in every classroom.

I don't have as much of an issue with this as I do with hanging the (Protestant Evangelical) ten commandments on the wall. The Bible, like many other religious texts is an important book...

Just one little question:

Which Bible?

Ya'll say "The Bible" like you have a Pope and there is only one. That's not true. So... which one?

If you don't know then maybe you are not qualified to make such mandates.

@futurebird Even those of us with a Pope have multiple! Granted we at least know which books we’re getting every time, but the translations are all over the place.

@alice I do not currently, but will steal this idea for when my son is old enough to eat non-pureed food.

If we have so much good AI tech why can't anyone make a spell check that I can't stump?

A few times a week I must go to the dictionary (like a cavewoman!) or search the web since I've mangled some word in such a way that there are no suggestions. It's just "wrong" what's wrong with it? Who knows!

Could it be a scientific name and just not in the dictionary? Maybe! Could it be an obscure word with a pretentious UK spelling? Probably! Could it be wrong? Also probably.

    Do this first AI lords.

@futurebird what’s really sad is the spell check capabilities of CLI spellcheckers can just…check words against multiple dictionaries at the same time.

The least enjoyable part of coding is getting the IDE setup, the folders named, the correct libraries installed and trimmed down so they have what you think you will need.

If the language is java then the least enjoyable part is deciding if you want to store a number as a float or an int (formatted if you need decimals) ... then always changing your mind and having to go through and fix the numbers so they work.

I know python is lazy, but strict typing still feels like a drag to me.

@futurebird it really depends on what you’re trying to do. I mean, if you just want to bang out a quick script to munge some data or focus on demonstrating/learning how to program, languages like Python are perfect.

Type systems only really become important when you want to have assurances about what your program’s memory usage looks like.
