Tasks are one of the few things i still do on paper, to me it's like reading a book; ya just cant beat the feeling of paper; also you can't just close the app; it will remain hanged on the wall, judging you from afar

Recites spell:
Ass starts making vacuum cleaner noises

brokenlcd ,

And for the actually curious; it was originally to hold pocket watches

brokenlcd ,

I'm not really sure about it's actual name since i'm not a native speaker; i basically shoehorned the translation

brokenlcd ,

I mean, so long as there isn't any sugar thrown in it shouldn't be that bad

brokenlcd ,

Either a baggy as ass tracksuit or camo shorts with band t shirt

brokenlcd ,

I am in a similar situation and came to the conclusion that plants hate my mere presence

brokenlcd ,

Bring as many npcs in the room as possible; then wait for the social anxiety to make me lock up

brokenlcd ,

Considering the sheer amount of microplastics we are pouring in the ocean collectively, we may lose but after a while we are still going to bring them down with us.

brokenlcd ,

It's like shorting negative and positive on a car battery; you don't do it unless you really want to see some real damage.

brokenlcd ,

I've done this in the garage countless times with both consoles and pcs i was fixing; i've spent some fond times with my frends like this.

brokenlcd ,

The chorus of this masterpiece, enough to be funny without going too mutch over the edge.

brokenlcd ,

I can feel the RSI coming by just looking at it; i don't even want to think about how long it took to draw all the details

brokenlcd ,

To be honest i'd prefer it to be there at all considering the current trend of removing it.

But to answer your question, jack on top, so when the phone is plugged in the wall you can stay on the other side since the headphone cable wont be bent

brokenlcd ,

Yesterday i started playing custom doom wads at night because i wanted to see what new mods where available and lo and behold; i saw the sun rise.

brokenlcd ,

More than a sys admin thing is a general linux user thing; i switched from an emmc computer with no drives marked as sdx; to one with nvme and hdd; i was used to my old pc where sda was whatever usb stick i plugged in; and i used dd with sda1... I nuked 1tb of data and i am still running photorec to try and recover something at least; fml.

brokenlcd ,

Unfortunately to do backups i need the money to buy a drive to do backups on; most of my pcs are literally made out of scrap parts from broken machines.

brokenlcd ,

I'm trying to do that; but all of the newer drives i have are being used in machines, while the ones that arent connected to anything are old 80gb ide drives, so they aren't really practical to backup 1tb of data on.

For the most part i prevented myself from doing the same mistake again by adding a 1gb swap partition at the beginning of the disk, so it doesn't immediatly kill the partition if i mess up again.

brokenlcd , (edited )

The problem is that i didn't mean to write to the hdd, but to a usb stick; i typed the wrong letter out of habit from the old pc.

As for the hard drives, I'm already trying to do that, for bigger files i just break them up with split. I'm just waiting until i have enough disks to do that.

5 mbps for 18€/month... Fuck this I'm switching back to pidgeons.

(reliable) Humidifier recommendations?

It gets very dry where I live at this time of year. This is not just hard on my skin, but the 17% indoor humidity isn't great for my houseplants. Can anybody recommend a humidifier? My priority is on reliability and although it isn't essential, it should be able to start up when power is cut and restored via a smart plug. I'm...

brokenlcd ,

I can't recommend a specific one because where i live we have the opposite problem; but in general the type of humidifier is the most important when it comes to resilience and maintenance, best info source i can point to is ths video from technology connections where he talks about different types; all of the ones he talks about in the video (aside from the big one) are fairly simplistic in construction, so they'll start as soon as power is applied.
Also be mindful about the size of the room, since a small one may not be fast enough.

brokenlcd ,

I'm unsure between peeping tom by jame berry and genesis by justice.
They are polar opposites in terms of genre; which one i prefer really depends on my mood

brokenlcd ,

Mate here in italy we have "della morte" as a surname; which translates literally to "of the death". I don't think we can get more goth than this

brokenlcd ,

That only works if the phone doesnt have disk encryption turned on since at the low level recovery tools work at an encrypted disk basically looks like gibberish; and since most phones nowdays have that option enabled by factory; i don't think it will give any results

brokenlcd ,

From what i understood on graphene there is file based encryption instead of block based (whole partition is encrypted) to allow each user profile to have different keys; this is how it's written on the site

(If i misunderstood what you where trying to tell me; i'm sorry, english isn't my first language and i wasnt able to understand if you meant to say it as a specification or as a "oh, you use graphene as well")

brokenlcd ,

Not sure really; it may be because either jdownloader has a self updating function (i dont think its this one because it could be patched out like most repos patch telemetry out of audacity) or because it has very frequent updates to keep the site scrapers and downloaders working since it's a continous arms race between them and the websites ( i'm not sure if repos have nightly builds of programs or not).

brokenlcd ,

You can try with an extension that changes the user agent of your browser; if you use the one from either firefox or chrome for android it should work. Usually its the only thing checked by sites when identifing browsers for non telemetry reasons; if the problem persists I'm not sure what it could be

brokenlcd ,

Then it may be something that mull is blocking to prevent fingerprinting that duolingo doesn't like, I don't know how to help in this case other than installing something like fennec in a work profile with shelter; sorry.

brokenlcd ,

I have installed linux on a €20 tv box because i needed a print server; it turned in a 2 month adventure that only ended when i cnocked the emmc off the board and started booting from sd card( and due to how unknown the hardware is, there is very little support); I'd consider it mostly a side project to do if you are willing to risk losing the stick and just like to toy with this stuff; not something to do out of actual need.

Boy do i miss cheap sbcs.

Ps. Dont bother with the stock os; when i booted the box for the fist time with his original os i saw a spike in my pi hole's blocked domains; yikes...

brokenlcd ,

Just as a quick tip, check the armbian csc forum for the type of processor, or even better, if someone has already attempted to do mod your device; they are pretty nice folks. in general i suggest to get a box with an rk3328 or an rk3318( essentially a binned 3328) since you cant brick them and worst of all cases; you can do what i did and cnock the emmc off and still have a working box

brokenlcd ,

T9 box from ebay actually; rk3318. I'm european so getting an ONN stick isnt a possibility

brokenlcd ,

I program with the italian layout and i's fine, the only annoyances are that to use the slash you need to use shift, all while the backslash has a dedicated key; also you need to use alt codes to type a tilde.

brokenlcd ,

Ok as an italian you got my interest; it kind of reminds me of a pizza ripiena without the top layer of dough

brokenlcd ,

I may be skewed by the fact its the plug of my country; but i like the type L plug (its the no 1 in the photo) mostly because its modular: you dont need to get a specific faceplate to have a certain arrangement of plugs, switches etc... You just take the brace plate off and you can rearrange the fruits in the box to your hearts content. Eg: you pass an ethernet cable and need to put a keystone in the wall; you just buy the fruit and put it in the place of a blanking plate. What i dont like is the almost total lack of shielding for the live and neutral.

brokenlcd ,

The main problems is high amperage required to get the same wattage and the difficulty to change voltage with dc; coming from someone that has a small workshop running out of 12v dc from solar panels and batteries

Is it possible to have an on-screen keyboard that provides word suggestions without compromising privacy?

I've been playing with both the Thumb and the Unexpected keyboards. I like 'em both but, man, I have to admit I'd like them more if they had that top bar that predicts what you might be. Is that just a no-go from a privacy perspective? Can that functionality be local?...

brokenlcd ,

For voice typing sayboard may be an option, i've never tried it so i'm not sure if it's good or not though; while for the predictive text i have been looking for a keyboard that can do it as well

brokenlcd ,

No i haven't, i'll check it out later because the integration with keyboards seems interesting

brokenlcd ,

Quartz heating elements are also resistors that emit light, but i've never seen anyone complain about them, people tend complain when they dont actually

brokenlcd ,

I think your best option is to find a used one that supports valetudo

brokenlcd ,

Mods are literally the reason why doom II, skyrim, fallout new vegas and assaultcube are still my most played games, I'm both genuinely surprised and scared at what people can come up with.
