Listen if you want me to take a poll I might, but here is what you need to do:

  1. send me a short code via email or text
  2. tell me who you are and be someone not creepy eg "Stony Brook College" tell me to go to your main webpage and find the place to put the code
  3. don't offer anything free like a gift card.

No one is clicking on some ugly link. Or rather there is a subset of people you will never poll of you expect me to click an ugly link. free stuff sounds shady.

@futurebird I complete polls for public services and sometimes very small businesses. Never for corporates, banks etc. If they want my input for their profit making enterprise, they can pay for it.

Why do you appreciate unions?

I’ll start:

Weekends off
Paid vacations
Work breaks
Sick leave
Paid holidays
No child labor
Safer working conditions
Health care and retirement benefits

@rbreich And better pay.

But aside from all that - nada - zero - nothing.

I am curious: Are anyone else seeing this pattern where new, empty profiles are created, and they immediately try hard to move the agenda to a different topic unrelated to the discussion going on?

I suppose these profiles could be real persons. But who would start out on a new social media platform, and immediately use reply-spamming to move the conversation to a different topic?

I often talk about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and I am getting this a lot.

What is going on?

@randahl ...walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..so it probably IS a russian disinfo attack.

Moving a few percent of their disinformation war budget over to Mastodon, unfortunately.

There’s something odd about Trump’s inability to post an appeal bond in his NY civil fraud case. All those buildings and clubs could serve as collateral against a loan to pay the bond…unless they are already pledged as collateral on other loans. Is it all a house of cards?

@rbreich He lies all the time. He lies about his wealth, but he also might be lying about his inability to get a bond too.

You can't tell anything from the noise that comes from his mouth (and lawyers), although on average it tends to indicate what is not the truth.

What happens on the bond-due date is the only honest information you will see.

Also as big as Canada's newest ship. I can't imagine how much it cost to build? Only to lose it during a small military exercise ...

@Rasta Nice! Commissioned in 2022, so probably one of Russia's most modern vessels.
