agree, the war is going on since 2014 and I also agree that there were always russian attempts like acts of misinformation. But I would argue that this full blown acts of sabotage, assasinations, spying are definetly an answer to their current battlefield situation and their hatred of the west because of the ongoing support of Ukraine.

The cynic in me keeps thinking that it’s actually in the US’ best interest if Ukraine and Russia stop fighting, even if it leaves things in a way where Russia gets away with doing bad things, versus empowering Ukraine to keep fighting until they completely push Russia out of their territory, but in the process maybe sparking World War 3.

The cynic in you seems not to see the bigger picture. If Russia suceed with this, they also proove they can get along with it. Start a war, wave with your ICBM's and threat everyone with nuclear warfare, rinse and repeat. And let us not forget the precedent it creates, that other dipshits countries can follow. They must be stopped right now, otherwise you are just postponing WW3, because Russia will not stop with their degenerated agenda.

They also justified the terrorist attack on the 7th of october, welcomed the large attack on Israel, are not "ashamed to say that Israel has no place in their land and has to be removed" and "will do it again and again".

So yeah they may lay their weapons down, but they never remain peaceful.

Not that bad since Osama and Zawahiri are dead. Their last big terrorist attack against america was when, 2010? Against the west in general, in France 2015? Since then they pretty much done or in a clash with the Taliban. If we can do the same with the Hamas, I would call it a win.

I dont like Sholz's explanation, if you even want to call it one, but I also don't think we keep them as a last line of defense, as Zelenskyy is framing it, since we have our NATO allies who can handle Russia with ease if they do something more stupid, than they already do.

In fact most germans dont know why we are not sending Taurus to Ukraine or understand the reasons behind this decision, but I think Ukraine will ultimately get them. It's just this unnecessary long process of our politicians that I absolut hate and do not unterstand, since we have to stop those Russians by any means and as fast as possible to prevent further casualites...
