Minnesota bans gay and trans panic defense after vote divided strictly along party lines

Don't tell me both parties are the same, I'm too busy living in reality where voting has consequences

The Tesla community has begun to fracture into reformist and hardliner factions, instigated by disagreements on the question of whether Autopilot is capable of hitting a curb

    Hmmmmm

The misleading readout, however, is not unusual and exposes weaknesses in the AI-generated software that many believe still needs fine-tuning.

    👏 You 👏 can't 👏 fix 👏 accuracy 👏 problems 👏 with 👏 machine 👏 learning 👏 language 👏 models

They're a fundamental aspect of the technology. It's magnetic poetry with extra steps. Not an answer machine.

In fact, such errors have sparked a bigger backlash worldwide, with a rise in the number of lawsuits over poor accessibility to websites for disabled people.

This will not end. The answer is to hire actual people to provide actual accessibility. Sowwy CEOs :( :( :( :( :(

So annoying that they will not, under any circumstance, understand any of this. All that can happen is the financial loss and legal liability finally become too great.

Pro-tip: If a new technology actually provides a leg up on the competition, you won't see it evangelized everywhere with extreme FOMO nonsense

Wild that people are losing trust in a technology that isn't fit for purpose and can't actually do what is claimed (do I even need to say what that technology is?)

many futurists love the misguided belief that humans are going to colonize another planet, like mars. part of what fuels this misguided belief, imo, is that they do not understand how much they get from the earth for free, without any work or investment. colonization of "new" land on earth has worked because you get life support for free. oxygen, a magnetosphere, microbes, water. even in antarctica. so much is taken for granted, just as our economic system takes it all for granted. losing that life support is expensive. and even in an imaginary scenario where you have infinite money, money cannot buy what the earth provides for free.

I think most people would object to forcing women to wear skirts. Beating up girls who do unladylike things like dancing or calculus. Many can even see how silly it is to tease a boy for enjoying painting more than sports.

    Most* get this.

What I don't understand is how it isn't obvious that transphobia is the exact same impulse.

There is no "reasonable" amount of transphobia you can tolerate without also supporting rigid harmful gender norms in general. 1/

One thing I've learned to do on social media now and then is make statements I know will piss off people I don't want reading my posts, so they get sucked into making an angry reply, and I can block them. Think of it like an immune system

Saying that ChatGPT "can't yet provide reliably correct answers to questions" is like saying your cat can't yet provide reliable services as a paralegal. You can't solve that task mismatch with a better cat
