Wait? Normal people are constantly buying an extra stick of ram because their browsers slow down too much.

We may not realize it’s a problem because the tech sphere (and especially the pc gaming sphere) is famous for overbuying. I used to frequent buildapc over on that other site and there are daily posts of people asking if their RTX 3060, 10th gen i5, and 16gb of ram is good enough for basic gaming and getting told no “actually you need at least a 4070, 13th gen i9, and 32gb of ram just to be low end!”

Hell, I used to be a frequent commenter on lowendgaming and would constantly have to butt heads with gamers who believed that a 4060 ti was low end.

It’s an unhealthy mindset that a lot of pc powerusers have that makes it impossible for them to engage reasonably with articles like this because they simply cannot wrap their heads what is actually normal in the world of pc users.

Republicans never argue in good faith, and bending over backwards to give them what they want just shows them they can demand even worse terms next time.

How Would You Handle Students Cheating?

I gave my students a take home exam over spring break. (This is normal where I teach) One of the questions was particulary difficult. It came down to a factor of three in the solution. That factor inexplicably appeared with no justification on many of their exams. I intend to have the students I suspect of cheating come to...

Probably treating as “forgetting to write down their steps” before jumping to cheating; presumably you’ve been teaching them to show their work and they forgot to do that here.

Give them the chance to show you how they solved it on the board, if they can then great! Give ‘em the points and send em on their way. If not, then give them a zero for that part of the test and move on.

Republican-passed bill removes role of Democratic governor if Senate vacancy occurs in Kentucky ( apnews.com )

Kentucky lawmakers gave final approval Thursday to a bill stripping the state’s Democratic governor of any role in picking someone to occupy a U.S. Senate seat if a vacancy occurred in the home state of 82-year-old Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell....

We laugh but this is not uncommon. I remember reading manpower contributions to the war in Afghanistan back in ‘17 and there were two Estonians and four Icelanders on the list. Hilarious when put next to the 10s of thousands of Americans.

Well generally everyone on joint bases like that reports to the base commander. There’s always a clear chain of command that transcends nations when it comes to NATO operations.

Also, I expect that most small detachments like that are just technical experts, not just straight infantry or anything lol

The lack of self awareness in some leftists boggles my mind. C’est la vie, we had a good run.

Depends on the job field. I was combat arms, and I’d say it was around 50-60%

From my limited experience with non combat arms people, it seemed lower among them.

I worked at a Trader Joe’s while the NY union was forming, and it was hilarious to hear the Mates (assistant managers) spout the exact same anti union rhetoric whenever there was a slow day.

Just randomly one mate would pop off about how “unions destroy your holidays!” when we just heard the exact same statement from another mate the day before.

Definitely not blatant anti-union directives from corporate, no no no. Lmao
