Is it "unjust" and "mean" to not let Pica lick (but not even eat) my mozzarella sicks?

Facts:

  1. She has done this before
  2. She won't even eat them, just mouth them.
  3. She has a strong opinion about doing this.
StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@futurebird I'm not sure about "immoral" but it might violate the Prime Directive if you consider mozzarella sticks and cats to be uncontacted, warp-incapable civilizations.

We need to pass a law that says cats can't vote in US elections. Why won't they pass a law? Why? We all feel like cats are voting! (just look at them! You can feel it too, right???)

yeah yeah ... it's already illegal for cats to vote... and I can't show any evidence of cats voting...

but that's just because of UM uh because of..cancel culture.

I can't even talk about this without everyone going nuts.

Why wouldn't someone want such a law? hm? Unless they too are a CAT! Makes u think!

Ron DeSantis signed a law that prevents municipalities in Florida from requiring that employers provide shade and water breaks for outdoor workers.

A study found that heat-related deaths in FL shot up by 88% between 2019 and 2022.

Folks, this is the GOP's vision for America.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@jeffjarvis English doesn't have grammar rules, it has sets of common grammar conventions. Not everyone follows the same set of conventions, but it's still English. Example, the split infinitive "rule" was introduced by someone with a hard-on for Latin, but split infinitives have been part of English for longer than it's been Modern English. Same with ending sentences with prepositions.

Judging people based on their use of English is no less bigoted than judging them based on skin color.

  1. An ex-president's lawyer is arguing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court that presidents can assassinate U.S. citizens with full immunity.
  2. Nearly a dozen universities have called the cops on peaceful anti-war protestors, resulting in hundreds of arrests and clear instances of police brutality.
  3. Texas anti-DEI bill has led to firings of dozens of staff at public universities.

If you don't think fascism is a real threat in the United States, I don't know what to say.

StarkRG ,

@ColesStreetPothole At this point, the US is more fascist than not. It's like metastatic brain cancer and probably just as inoperable.

If the supreme court jumps in and overturns the Jan. 6 convictions of 100s of people who attacked the capitol it will be one of the most politically charged actions taken by this court and in a politically charged environment.

There are many laws that might need revision, scrutiny, but they reached out through space and time to grab this hot potato.

It's a joke.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@futurebird The Supreme Court isn't legitimate and the fewer people continue to pretend it is, the weaker they are.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@futurebird First we need more people to just acknowledge that a quarter of the Supreme Court was inappropriately appointed and that rampant corruption has been taking place for decades. Equate the supreme court with an elitist social club issuing decrees. Make common responses to any news related to the Supreme Court be scoffs and derision.

Politics in the US is completely broken and I'm not smart enough to see a way to fix it, but I can at least acknowledge that it is, in fact, broken.

They look so innocent at this age. Big yellow heads, soft exoskeletons. These major worker twins just emerged. They are sleeping. Their black antennae remind me of pigtails. So innocent, give them a week and they’ll be up to all kinds of adventures. (Camponotus nicobarensis)

How do I know they are sleeping? Well from this handy guide to ant antennae body language:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/earth/hi/earth_news/newsid_8100000/8100876.stm

The article says workers don't sleep for more than one min... but newly eclosed workers sleep longer.

Love Hillary, hate Hillary, whatever. But during the 2016 debates, she called Trump Putin’s puppet and said he “encouraged espionage against our country”. She spoke the truth, in public, straight to his orange face.

Lots of people owe Hillary Clinton — and America — an apology.

StarkRG ,

@Strandjunker I doubt the people who disagreed with those statements are intelligent enough to recognise that they were wrong to do so or mature enough to admit that they were wrong even if they did.

What was the largest tree ever to grow on earth? In all of history, in all of time, when did that tree stand?

There is a chance that it was not millions of years ago, but rather in recent history. In California. One of the great redwoods cut for land and timber and conquest may have been the largest tree that ever lived.

I think the felling of that tree was a turning point. It's strange to think that nothing may have marked it's passing.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@futurebird There's another enormous redwood, I forget where, that was cut down in order to build a dance pavilion and a two-lane bowling alley on top of for some event. I think the bowling alley operated for a little bit after the event but it was only ever a gimmick. Now it's just a trunk and stump slowly rotting in the forest.

Some claiming CDC was forced to weaken isolation guidelines as many people in the US don't have enough paid sick leave so no one is isolating.

This is poor excuse. Weakening guidance only makes it harder to pass sick leave polices because politicians will say it isn't needed anymore.
