All you need to play the R&R are these 2 books, a 6-sided die and a 12-sided die.

The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.

These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.

But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of . (more)

@gcvsa I don't know why this type of system isn't the norm in FRPGs (R&R uses "Magic Points" in a similar fashion). I like your idea of spell casters potential using all their SP and additional HP to cast one last spell as they go down fighting! I agree that "forgetting" spells after casting has always been a weak feature of D&D.

Riddles are frequently featured in literature and sessions. But they aren't usually included in source books for the obvious reason that players would see the answers... so we are just going to post a few easy ones from time to time. Feel free to use them in your sessions, but keep the answers to yourself. If you aren't sure of an answer, send us a message and we will confirm. Here's an easy one:

Having feathers but no wings;
My flight, my bite--death they bring.

    @Rolistespod this looks awesome. I was never able to get a print copy of Brindlewood Bay, do you need that to play?

    In R&R , Death Magic, or necromancy, gives characters the power to use spells associated with death. In most fantasy settings, using Death Magic is at best looked down upon, or at worst considered to be an act of evil. Characters with this power will have to keep this in mind if they want to avoid being persecuted. Nearly all elves, dwarves, and gnomes consider the use of Death Magic to be against nature, so characters with those bloodlines must use two choices to select this one power.

    In 1530, the king of England launched a traveling audit to verify everyone using a coat of arms was authorized to do so. It makes a surprisingly good RPG adventure!

    @MoltenSulfur This is interesting on a historical level, and a fantastic idea for inspiration. Well done!

    I am in need of some reference images of what the ground in a natural wild forest in a Mediterranean climate.

    Of course, online searches have no understanding of what that means. And I don't think there's much natural forest left in Europe outside of Scandinavia.

    Does anyone know of any such woodlands that have retained or regained their natural state, that I might look up for reference images?

    @Yora Check out Sila National Park or Pollino National Park in the Calabria region of southern Italy.

    Do you remember how the drawings of the classic booklets would capture your imagination? R&R rule books feature high-quality, black and white illustrations on nearly every page.
