Ok so I’m not saying that I dislike cleaning the coffee machine but I have just spent the last hour or so fixing the recalcitrant kitchen tap - rather than clean the coffee machine.

Seems that, with the right tools & a little bit luck & a lot of silicone grease one can in fact resurrect a sticking tap.

Turns out that the rubber seals inside the plastic cartridge were fine , but the lithium grease had dispersed over time.

The picture shows the tools / materials used. The tap spanner set was expensive as hell but has saved my bacon a few times now, its very versatile!

I used the potable silicone grease that I use when re-greasing the seals for the coffee maker after it has been cleaned, but I think it is a bit thin, hence the tap still sticking a little.

Cotton wool buds & a child’s toothbrush are marvellous for cleaning small / hard to get at items.

The video shows the tap in action post repair - it still sounds & feels a little argumentative, but I think that is due to me using silicone grease rather than the original lithium grease - I will get a tub of that & redo the fix , probably over the w/e.

If I remember I might do a vid of the fix.

Just call me the Tap Whisperer 😁

Guess cleaning the coffee maker will just have to wait till tomorrow.

Peeps , quick call for a bit of advice.

Does anyone have one of the electrically heated mixer taps in their kitchen ?

If so could you give me the low down on it, how you find it , is it a good investment, what do I need to be aware of etc.

Out tap is sticking badly, its quite an old one & I’m not sure I can source a new cartridge for it easily.
I could dismantle it & see if the cartridge is capable of repair but this is a size the moment type situation.

Mrs S. & I have discussed the idea that such a tap would save us money on the gas bill because in the summer the solar panels will cover any electric that is used.

Any feedback on these types of tap would be gratefully received ! 😊🫶🐿️🖖

I woke up around 2am this morning, noted that Thursday had been successfully delivered & went back to sleep.

The only major thing on my horizon today is cleaning & descaling the coffee machine… joy!

For the recent arrivals who are currently regretting sharing my TL I’ve attached the Nut House rules, a fundamental part of the Squirrel Spotters code.

Well I say rules, as Captain Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean) said “The code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules”.

Also @si_irini has loads of hazelnuts apparently 😜

If you’re buying a new PC then you probably need to read this:

TL:DR The Recall feature screenshots your screen very regularly & stores it.
Everything goes into the database the AI that analyses the screenshots creates & the database has NO expiry date.

I apologize for asking an uncomfortable question, but has there ever been a debate in Germany about replacing the Iron Cross symbol of the German army?

I applaud every delivery of German equipment to Ukraine, but whenever I see the iron cross on a Leopard tank, my heart skips a beat.

To me, modern day Germany is a beacon of freedom, and I feel this symbol is associated with the opposite.

    @MaJ1 @weirdfolks Good morning been up for the last 2 hours myself and going down for coffee and breakfast... been falling asleep at 8pm last few days.. only 4 hours this time will sleep during day again..

    @MaJ1 @weirdfolks very hard to do when body falls asleep sitting at table or on toilet or watching a show like the other night .. missed all of it and woke at last 3 minutes of it.. so I gave in last night.. was gone as soon as eyes closed...

    Monday’s lay in (it’s a public holiday here) was shattered by the reminder to take my meds that I totally for got to reschedule 🙄🤦‍♂️
    After stern words with Siri I rolled over & made the most of it 😊
