I'm by no means an expert, but how is it the phone can still make emergency calls if it has zero contact with the network if it's simless? Seems like a solution that isn't actually one, especially if you consider stuff like IMIE numbers.

And I'm sure if I could be bothered to look into this solution I would be right.

Plus most tracking and privacy violations work just as well if not better via WiFi.

Sure they should be allowing it, but anyone who cares about digital privacy and freedom that's still using apple devices kinda deserves what they get at this point.

This! Set up virt manager or Virtual Box, then you can try all the distros you want

I used brave for a while, but left as I felt there was something fishy about them. Seems I was right

As a DWM user I won't be moving for a long time. Yes I know about DWL, but it dosnt have half the patches I use yet.

I do like the lower amount of screen tearing on Wayland, but I've minimised it in Xorg.

This guy has a good take on linux companies, agree or disagree? ( www.youtube.com )

Kent right here talks about how Linux related companies need to focus on putting their resources towards collaborating and helping big companies port their software and THEN introduce open source software to new users instead of remaking desktop environments, pushing companies away, and overall doing the same thing over and...

Honesty at this point I don't really care about Linux becoming mainstream. I mean call me elitist, but I feel like if it became a major desktop operating system a lot of the development would turn to making sure it's safe for IT illiterate people to use.

Part of why I love Linux so much is as someone who actually has a decent idea of what I'm doing I feel like the operating system leaves me alone to do what I want with my own computer.

Do you really think if everyone started using Linux you'd still be able to delete the boot loader or wipe your whole installation with one command.

Of course not! They would have to fit 10 million safety features and limit a ton of what the user can do just like Windows and MacOS.

So as much as I love Linux I think it's best being left as an advanced power users desktop operating system.

st. Fonts look great and I've even been able to add a vim mode for scrollback including selecting and copying text.

If I need something fast( usually on a new system) that's in most distros repos and automatically installs all it's dependencies( and doesn't have to many like gnome terminal and konsole) I tend to use sakura, though xfce terminal is also pretty good.

Parties and sex don't mean you're living. That's just usually something glamorised by Hollywood and social media.

This guy seems like he has a tight knit friend group and a common hobby they all enjoy. As long as they're working towards meaningful goals in their lives, I'd say he's actually got it better then his drunk friends.

Hardware security key options?

I've been thinking about getting a hardware security key and have heard of yubikey before; but I want to see what my options are and if they are worth it in your opinion.
My current setup is a local KeePassXC database (that I sync between my PC and phone and also acts as TOTP authenticator app), I know that KeePass supports hardware keys for unlocking the database.

I am personally still of the belief that passwords are the safest when done right; but 2FA/MFA can greatly increase security on top of that (again, if done right).
The key work work together with already existing passwords, not replace them.

As I use linux as my primary OS I do expect it to support it and anything that doesn't I will have to pass on.

PS: what are the things I need to know about these hardware keys that's not being talked about too much, I am very much delving into new territory and want to make sure I'm properly educated before I delve in.

Nitrokey would probably be my choice as both the hardware and software are open source( in fact you could probably build your own if you wanted to). I don't trust yubikey as the firmware that runs on them is closed source so you just don't know of it's actually secure.

Throw your phone out. Get a small librebooted laptop and use an android emulator for any apps.

I know it's an unobtainable dream, but a banking app for every bank on any platform.

The Distro Wars are good actually.?

If all the seemingly pointless discussions about which distro is better comes from attachment to a spesific distro and if a distro is just a way to interract with linux than all the discussion about witch distro is better etc. fundementally comes from a a place of love and appreciation for Linux as an OS....

"I USE ARCH BTW" there can't have a distro discussion without that.
