I got really lucky, in that I had made a Costco run shortly before the shit hit the fan and didn't have to worry about toilet paper while it was in short supply (not hoarding, I had just stocked up like I usually do). Actually ended up handing out a few rolls to friends and neighbors who were having a harder time than I was.

It probably helped that I got a bidet a few months in, and that cut my TP usage dramatically while making my butt also feel cleaner and less irritated.

As awful as Kansas can be, at least we have a Democratic governor who protects us from most of the worst of this shit (though the legislature occasionally overrides her veto).

I'm really afraid of what happens when she gets term limited out. I really hope we don't end up with a Republican governor again, because Kansas Republicans are the worst of the worst of the worst. We gave the world Sam Brownback.

If the guy went armed into a KKK meeting, it's pretty obvious what he's doing. I wouldn't have a lot of sympathy for the KKK guys, because fuck them, but it's pretty obvious at that point that the guy is playing vigilante.

It's also worth noting that the first two people he shot were unarmed, and everyone who was in the vicinity thought he was an active shooter.

Don't forget that his "everyone" also included black people, as he illustrated with a segment where he invites his black mailman to share a pool with him and then washes his feet. That really pissed off a lot of "Christians" back in 1969, in post-Civil Rights Act America.

But then, those "Christians" are still the same way today. Just that they can't be as overt towards black folks anymore (though some certainly still manage to do so), so they find more acceptable targets.

100%, yes. Unfortunately, these times breed anger and hate, whether that's accusations of supporting Hamas towards people merely opposing Israel's genocide or accusations of supporting said genocide levied at people just for being Jewish.

We need to put the blame squarely where it belongs - on both Hamas and the Netanyahu regime. The ordinary folks that just want to live in peace, whether Palestinian or Israeli, are not the problem.

On the one hand, I agree that corporate exploitation of Pride (like corporate exploitation of most things in general) is pretty gross.

On the other, it's kinda heartening in a weird way when these companies see LGBTQ+ people the same way they see everyone else. Granted, what they see them as is resources to be exploited and bled dry and then thrown away, but hey, to be honest, that's an improvement over how they used to see us.

You know, I kind of agree with her. I, too, am sick of politicians pretending to be something they're not. So I appreciate her candor in revealing herself as a puppy-killing sociopath.

On a related note, I wouldn't vote for her for any office on Earth, because the last thing we need is more puppy-killing sociopaths in charge.

(My dad would say, "I wouldn't vote for her for dog catcher," to say he thought she wasn't fit for any office at any level, but when I think about it, that's probably the office she's least suited for.)

Netanyahu is antisemitic, and I call for him to end.

His every action has been for the sole purpose of stoking fear and resentment among Israelis, and Jews worldwide, so they would give him more power. He's propped up Hamas for decades just to delegitimize Palestinians and keep the fighting going. He doesn't care how many people have to die, as long as he stays in charge. Israelis, Palestinians, he does not give a fuck. Hell, I don't even think he gives a shit about the hostages; they were just an excuse to create this carnage and instill even more of a seige mentality in his people.

He is doing an excellent job, and I do not mean to denigrate his work when I say the task is beyond any one person, no matter how talented and dedicated. Look at the issues that went on recently while Ernest was indisposed, and we had months of federation issues that led to communities migrating away and Kbin.social getting defederated by other instances.

This project is getting too large for any one person, and it's far too important to have one point of failure. And even someone as great as Ernest needs an understudy.
