Oh my, this is a crevice planter from the Denver Botanical Garden. It's a photo of a photo, but gives you an idea of how amazing it looks.

Talk about !

Alpine cornflower, Centaurea stricta. The flower only gets to about 10cms high. It has quickly formed a clump after planting just one small plant last summer, & so far this year its been flowering for over a month.

Ornamental grass, Festuca amsthystina, with its delicate purple flowers. I love the way the lightest breeze makes it sway and adds movement to the border.

@plants

The full plant in a flower bed, surrounded by other plants. You can see how light and airy the grass leaves and flowers are, and they add gentle movement to the border.

1st sweetpeas of the season. The fragrance is divine.

I've brought them into my bedroom so I can enjoy some of the outside in, which is really nice as it has been a crappy ME week.

Centaurea montana 'Jordy' is a type of cornflower. I just love this aubergine-purple colour.

@plants

The same flower but looking from above, where you cam see the thin petals in more detail.

Alpine Geranium cinereum Ballerina. Only get about 15cm h x 25cm W, but has lots of flowers over summer, and is ever so pretty.

@plants

Close up of one flower so you can see the attractive vein markings more clearly. It also has dark pink pistols & stamens in the middle.

Growing ? It's time to check if you have any garlic scapes, because if you don't take them off, you'll end up with small bulbs in the ground.

Short blogpost with step-by-step photos on what to do with the scapes. Plus links to a simple way to preserve them in the freezer, and a post on how to grow garlic.

@plants

Many garlic scapes on a white chopping board.
