Things I've been playing on my Switch, and vague thoughts on them:

Breath of the Wild: it's a hell of a change from western open world RPGs. In good ways, and ways that frustate me a bit. I suspect the latter will pass though.

Tunic: annoyingly hard, but interesting.

Lego City Undercover: It was $10. I had to. Played it briefly on a friend's Wii U back in the day over drinks. Still funny, still fun.

@vampiress Tunic was one of the first games a beat on my Steam Deck. Perfect portable game, but definitely left me frustrated a few times.

Well how's this for an appropriate thing to turn up this week?

I've wanted these for years, but never found ones that didn't cost as much as a small car, until these appeared for auction on eBay.

I only had "budget" editions of the original Monkey Island when I was young. Crappy half-size things with the beautiful cover art wrecked by "HIT SQUAD" or whatever branding it had.

The back covers of Monkey Island 1 & 2. Including the notable line on the Monkey Island 2 box: “Optional easy mode for beginners and magazine reviewers.”
A phat wad of double-density 3.5” disks. That’s a lotta disks for one game… Below it, the Mix ’n Mojo copy protection thing.

A good teacher can change your life. I was lucky enough to have several, and they are part of why I do what I do today. They made me see the joy in Photography, Movies / TV, and even computer games. (I had a physics teacher to encouraged me to try Ultima Underworld, and we chatted about it every lesson.) It's not an accident they're all things I'm passionate about now.

@vampiress I still talk to one of my college professors 15 years later. Great guy. Great Physics and Computer Science teacher.

I wouldn't read nearly as much as I do now if I didn't have a few quirky English teachers who took the time to help out an overly literal person like me appreciate figurative language.
