Was looking at Quest 3, maybe I'll get PSVR2 instead? ( kbin.run )

Since the AVP came out I've been yearning for a path back into VR. Quest 3 is the obvious answer and I've even had it in my amazon cart, hovering over the "purchase" button at least twice now. However, I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger and now I'm starting to take a closer look at the PSVR2....

Her introduction montage at the beginning, where she was doing all the exercises and training, didn’t do it for ya? Between the two, I thought the guy was less believable given his circumstances.

Eggyhead ,

The way he was built in the show, sure, but he’s supposedly very irradiated, malnourished and poorly disciplined. I think the scenario of her winning that fight on makes more sense than him looking so buff in the first place.

  1. Take a learners dictionary and pair it with an advanced one.
  2. Pic some controversial words.
  3. Compare verbs against nouns, nouns against adjectives so the definitions aren’t actually the same but look like they should be.
  4. Completely make up the last “simple” definition so it seems like you are making some profound point that’s actually just a dumb comment.
  5. Call the side with the stupid comment you made up “pop psychology” so people can see in plain sight what gaslighting actually looks like.

You are correct. The only truly incorrectly defined word in the list is the “pop psychology” form of “trauma”, which looks like it was just made up for the sake of the meme. “Gaslighting” is correct on both sides, but the two in the middle are actually being paired with different forms of the same word, so the definition is inherently different. Also, the definitions on the left are coming from a learner’s dictionary so they come across as stupid next to advanced definitions.

Eggyhead ,

There doesn't have to be some elaborate ongoing scheme for something to be gaslighting.

100% agree.

The version of macOS that was released today, 11.0, also known as Big Sur…

Good thing we’re on top of things here on the fediverse.

I don't even know what to say about this whole acquisition other than I am deeply disappointed. I am a teacher, and I bought this suite to create handouts and activities for lessons every once in a while. I often share these activities and handouts with other teachers who need ideas. I don't use the Affinity suite frequently or in a professional-enough manner to justify dedicating any more of my long-stagnant pay rate to it, so if prices go up, I will have to stop being a customer whether I like it or not.

If premium features are free for educators, I need to look into how that system works.

I’m happy to keep my V2 license, but I guarantee V2 will be shorter lived than V1 was now that a company was acquired and costs need to be recuperated.

…they just couldn’t figure out how to hamper the watch in just the right way to convince users that Android OS was the problem, so they gave up.

Would it be possible to VPN to an EU address and download?

If so, I’d imagine things are going to get hard for VPNs not too long after.

Eggyhead ,

Imagine this extending to the Vision Pro and getting native access to the Steam VR library on that.

Eggyhead ,

I would say the same for iPhone.

Google Allows Creditors to Brick Your Phone ( lemmy.world )

I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they're on a whitelist. No notifications from this particular system app (that can't be disabled) until recently when it started making internet connection requests to google servers. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...

Eggyhead ,

Are we certain it does what we think it does? Could it be something to do with the ability to lock your phone remotely if stolen, or just something to do with Lock Screen functionality?

Eggyhead , (edited )

…says someone from a lemmy.ml account?

Edit: Poked the hornet’s nest…

Eggyhead ,

It’s been a painful few decades for consumers having the teeth of unregulated tech titans sunk into them.

Eggyhead ,

Reddit definitely doesn’t seem like the kind of business that might utterly disregard such requests while insisting outwardly that they are complying.
