I'm sure Nestle has already thought of that.

Paper terrorism is probably the best way to explain it. They will bombard courts, banks and civil services (ie- utilities, child support payments) with pages and pages of useless documents and waste hours of people's time on the phone, in person, or by mail.

Combine that with the belief that no response is acceptance and rejections are based on lies, you get the most aggressive and ignorant people that make Karen's seem pleasant.

I have found marigold seeds tend to have consistent germination (80-90%). I start with one seed, and after week I pull the duds and replant, repeating as needed.

Chinese military harassed Dutch warship enforcing UN sanctions on North Korea, Netherlands says ( www.cnn.com )

A Dutch warship was harassed by Chinese military aircraft in the East China Sea on Friday, the Netherlands said, becoming the latest country to accuse Beijing’s forces of initiating potentially unsafe encounters in international waters....

China does flout the trade embargo with NK though. It's very one sided in China's favour, and there's even an exclusive train line from Dan Dong into NK. China sells NK consumer goods, and then extracts natural resources using cheap NK labour.

Wait until you pay the credit card bill it all went on! Ongoing maintenance is not too costly, but the initial set up is easily $1000+. And that does not include the fish, live rock, invertebrate, etc. I have no regrets starting a saltwater aquarium (I started it in 2010), but I needed to be at a place in my life/career where that was feasible.

A friend of mine "adopted" a feral kitten from a garbage can. She opened the lid, saw him, picked him up and would up taking him home. He's the most affectionate and stupid creature I have ever met - he makes a ginger cat look like a genius. He forgets which window he left from (she leaves an open window for him) and sits at the front door meowing. He has walked off the edge of tables and was genuinely surprised to be on the floor. He would try to play with his litter mates, who were still feral, and be confused as to why they would run away from him (he's a big tomcat). At the end of the day, the cat has a loving home, and my friend has a sweet, albeit derpy, tuxedo companion.

Perhaps this mouser is a distant cousin of his Canadian counterpart.

Remember to cover up the plant with dirt all the way to the top of the pot- you'll get more potatoes that way.

Mutant violet? ( lemmy.world )

I was given a small pot with a single sad leaf to try and rescue. I was told it was an African violet. It was repotted and I gave it some fertilizer and it started producing this giant leggy looking leaves. Is this normal? A mutant? It doesn’t look like any violet I’ve seen....

That's just how cyclamen grow- they're floppy plants. They like indirect light, so the lighting set up seems fine.

Just be careful that you give the bag lots of holes for drainage. Potatoes will rot if they remain water logged. I prefer to grow mine in "potato grow bags" (found on Amazon) as they drain well and can hold a large volume of dirt.

Marine silicone is specifically formulated to be water tight (and safe for aquarium inhabitants). It can be found at specialty salt water aquarium stores.

‘I’d never been bitten by a tick before’: why the little blood-sucking pest is getting us into a panic ( www.theguardian.com )

Last summer I took my family on a walk through the woodlands that surround the hamlet of Ebernoe, in Sussex. My children clambered on fallen trees, my partner and I hunted for mushrooms, and all the while we were being hunted by creatures more ancient than the last dinosaurs – and so hungry they would have fed on us for days.

Lyme disease is awful, but preventable. I lived in tick country for much of my life, and went outdoors, camping, and hiking a lot, without a single tick incident. Ticks like long grasses and short brush, the drier the better. They hang out on the flora until a deer or other victim walks through and they hitch a ride (and get a meal). If preparing for an outing in tick country, there's a number of simple things you can do to prevent being bitten.

  1. Wear shoes (no sandals and nothing open toed), long pants (lightweight hiking pants can be easily purchased), and wear long socks pulled over the bottom hem of your pants. As I told my girl Scout unit, they're going for a hike, not a fashion show.
  2. Learn how to do a tick check, and how to properly remove a tick.
  3. If you do find a tick on yourself or someone else, KEEP THE TICK. Put it in a bag or container and take it to the hospital with you. Go to a hospital as soon as possible- the tick can be tested for Lyme disease, and you can get preventative treatment.

And obviously, do not go rolling around/laying in tick infested grasses.

Government agencies often track this information. Here's the one for Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/lyme-disease/surveillance-lyme-disease.html

(Don't know if you're in Canada, so I'm not sure how useful the link is.)

Modern foundation pens with universal ink cartridges/refillable ones are pretty reliable. The only time one has leaked on me was when I dropped it and broke the pen in half. I had topen body fixed and it still works well.

At least in Canada, you have to file taxes, even if you have no income, as proof you are eligible for welfare programs.

If I understand the sovcit "process" based on previous posts, the lack of a response (ie: not sending a clear rejection letter) constitutes acceptance. I think there's also something about if forms are rejected 3 times it is also acceptance.

The penguins have enough problems - they don't want sovcits too. I would get some joy out of seeing a sovcit trying to negotiate with a penguin with magic paperwork though.

My neighbor planted lemon balm in her small garden bed- now it's all lemon balm and has spread around the strata gardens. Anything in the mint family has to be contained, or soon it will be all you have.
