So after debating it for a whole I just flashed Graphene OS onto my phone and it works better than I expected. All my apps work fine which i wasn't expecting. The only issue I had is with GPS due to not wanting to install google service's but I've just put that in a sandboxed user profile and now it works perfectly.

I think there's a lot of misconceptions that custom OS's break a lot of features but I've just realised that isn't true.
