Street Fighter Movie Finally Has A Solid Release Date | Retro Dodo ( retrododo.com )

Street Fighter, a classic game series that's been part of many gaming lives, is getting a movie release! The much-anticipated film will hit the theaters on March 20, 2026.

As for what we know about the plot and cast, there are no details yet. However, Capcom is involved in its production alongside Sony, suggesting it might stick close to the spirit of the games that have impacted us for years.

Have you seen the 1994 film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue? How do you think this new film will compare?

Uruanna ,

Has no one seen the Assassin's Fist series or what?

"Have you seen the 1994 film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue? How do you think this new film will compare?" Nothing can compare to such a high bar not even the anime that released around the same time

Delphia ,

You mean this Anime? thats full and free on YT.

Id argue that the Anime is a better Streetfighter 2 movie, The live action is just peak 90s ridiculous fun. Also RIP Raul Julia.

gerbler ,

Nothing could possibly top Raul Julia's performance as Bison. One 1994 Street Fighter movie is worth 5 2026 Street Fighter films!

I hope this is concept art and not the character look, it's reminding me of the Sonic release.

Too garishly realistic.

I've seen the 1994 film and at least plot wise, I think it would be impossible to do worse.

This will probably be way more fun, and they'll be able to do a lot more with animation than you could do with live action characters in the world of Street fighter

Yeah this will probably be better.

Oops, I just found out this is going to be live action.

Wellp.

It'll probably still be better than the 1994 movie, that is really rough to watch.

The effects weren't there, fight choreography wasn't there, the plot was absent, this movie has to be better.

Oh rad, thanks, Do you like the new games?

I mostly played street fighter 2 and 4. I usually wait until I can buy the whole game before biting the bullet, since street fighter usually goes through an ultra super turbo edition phase. Recently bought 5 but haven't really played it yet.

Varyk ,

Oh I see. I'm interested in trying a newer gen game now and seeing how much it blows my mind.

I don't think I played anything since 2, I haven't played fighting games in a very long time.

That's the cover art for SF6.

Everything else, totally valid concerns.

Have to see what the casting is going to be like.

Varyk ,

Oh, cool thanks.

I haven't played any of the new games, are they still really fun?

I'm excited to see the casting.

yeah sf6 is fun,

i havent played the older games,
but from whad i heard, id describe the newer ones as more aggressive and less finicky(in terms of input precision / timing)

also online play has gotten way better(if that even was a thing when you last played)

Varyk ,

Never have, I just off the old games and then slid into RPGs and off fighting games in general. Sounds fun though

Rhynoplaz ,

Thanks for making me feel old. I haven't played a Street Fighter game since the 1900s, and no, online wasn't a thing.
