Just some funny guys hopping around! Penguin study, based on pictures but I wanted to stylize them a bit.

There's two emperor penguins (left), one chinstrap penguin (middle), a rockhopper penguin and a humboldt penguin diving! 🐧

The lineart resembles a pencil, airbrush textures construct the shading and more pencil lines on the black areas simulate feather texture. There's two emperor penguins on the left, their head is black and the beak slim. The one on top has a somewhat rectangular shape, the neck is extended and the head is facing to the ground. The bottom one is bending over, looking down too. They have bright yellow spots on the neck. The chinstrap penguin stands on the middle with the fins lifted and its beak facing up, looking at us with the head in profile. The penguin's body has an oval shape. As it name suggests, it has a mark around the chin that makes it look like it has a tiny helmet on. The rockhopper penguin stands in profile. It's wider than the others, it has a big orange beak and a bright yellow crest over the eyes, like eyebrows or funny hairstyle (feather-style?). Finally, on the bottom right there's the humboldt penguin. It has a black and white pattern on the back and a black strip on the chest. The beak is big and black. It's depicted diving or swimming on water. It has some bluish and light grey details on the back, as the feathers are reflecting the light on the water around him.

    More penguins!

    Another study from last week: two emperors, one chinstrap penguin, a rockhopper and a humboldt. I only used my pencil textured brush, and they look a bit more cartoon-ish this time.

    Digital art of five penguins. All drawn with a digital brush that resembles a pencil. The black areas on their backs are shaded with lots of lines, mimicking feathers. The bellies are completely white, with the exception of some short pencil strokes to add a bit of texture and softness. In this study I made the heads and beaks a bit bigger, to caricaturise each animal. The two emperor penguins are standing, chilled. Their body shapes are like vertical rectangles. One has a big round head and smaller body, with its slim beak sticking out to the left of the silhouette. The other one is facing to the right, and has a comically small head compared to its big, long body. The chinstrap penguin stands in profile, to the right. It has a big head and beak relative to its body. The tail is long and feathery, making the penguin have a funny zig zag shape (like an inverted letter Z). The humboldt is depicted swimming, with his belly facing downwards. The arms are down, and the head is stretching out towards above. It kinda resembles a tiny, feathery boat. Finally, there's the rockhopper penguin, which is standing in front of us, its head facing right. The body is shaped like a stretched oval, or a pear. The arms are big in comparison with its chest. The head is square, with its characteristic elongated feathers over the eyes, which give the animal a lot of personality. Also, the feet aren't parallel on the ground, suggesting that the animal is, in fact, hanging out in the rocks.
