Here is another lovely from @subugoe (8 Cod. MS pers. 14), containing the Šerḥ-i Sabḥat al-abrār, a literary text. This is from the 17th or 18th century. @historikerinnen @histodons @medievodons

"A case-study in how a page from an Old Norse manuscript (in this case the Codex Regius of the Poetic Edda) is edited for publication in a modern-day book. Manuscript images from the Árni Magnússon Institute at the University of Iceland (handrit.is)."

Update from the eManuSkript project: we've mocked up a website with a holistic interface for all the apps; we're starting tagging of the 200GB supplementary training set for our neural network; the students are developing script & #manuscript training sets for online tutorials; and much, much more. I have such a brilliant team!

We're looking for a student with graphic design skills for a short project - if you're it, please get in touch! #palaeography @historikerinnen @histodons @medievodons

I’m really excited to be part of this incredible project. To learn more, see the press release (in English and German) on my university’s website: https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/3240.html?id=7427

I should also say that @InsularMSS will involve not only #medieval #manuscript studies but also #digitalhumanities and scientific research: palaeoproteomics, #multispectral and photometric stereo #imaging, handwritten text recognition (#HTR), Raman and XRF #spectroscopy, infra-red #microscopy & much more. Perhaps most important, though, will be the freedom and time to do this important work!

This afternoon we went hunting for inside the bindings of printed books, with the help of an endoscope. We made some very interesting finds, from ninth-century strips to Gothic music.
